Yan One

Yan One is the eldest of the three Yama ancestors, an eight-hundred-thousand-year-old dark practitioner preserved within the Bone Sea of Eternal Darkness.

Biography

From sealed ancestor to devoted servant

Yan One and his two brothers remain in the Bone Sea for ages, feeding on its darkness but unable to leave without rapidly aging toward death. When Yun Che enters, his Eternal Calamity of Darkness suppresses their Yama power absolutely and remakes their loyalty around him as master. Yan One then serves as an overwhelming enforcer throughout the conquest of the Eastern and Western divine regions. During Mo Beichen's invasion, the three ancestors spend their bodies to shield Yun Che from the Half-God. Yan One survives long enough to see the rescue succeed and dies laughing in satisfaction. Appearance and personality

Yan One is an ancient, withered man saturated with black devilish energy. Centuries in the Bone Sea leave him feral, blunt, and contemptuous of ordinary hierarchy, but his submission to Yun Che becomes sincere and almost childlike. He competes noisily with his brothers while treating service and sacrifice for their master as joy rather than burden. (Chapters 1683–1690 and 1947)

Abilities and cultivation

Yan One is a level-ten Divine Master whose enormous Yama darkness has accumulated for hundreds of thousands of years. Within or after release from the Bone Sea, he can overwhelm god-emperor-level opponents and fight ancient dragons. Eternal Calamity of Darkness is his decisive weakness, and even all three ancestors together cannot defeat the Half-God Mo Beichen; their final defense succeeds only through total self-sacrifice. • Yun Che: Yun Che subdues Yan One through absolute darkness control and becomes the master for whom he willingly dies. (Chapters 1683–1690 and 1947)
