Xiao Yun meets Yun Che after risking himself to protect Number Seven Under Heaven, then brings his rescuer into the declining Yun Family. He accepts Yun Che as a sworn brother, learns that he is Xiao Ying's biological son rather than Yun Qinghong's, and nevertheless remains wholly devoted to both families. His courage during Duke Huai's coup and his eventual marriage to Number Seven give that divided heritage a stable future. (Chapters 494–509, 625–688, and 896)

Appearance and personality

Introduced as a young man of twenty-one, Xiao Yun is gentle, earnest, and conspicuously free of the arrogance expected from a guardian-family heir. His modesty can become hesitation under pressure, but loyalty to his parents, sworn brother, and beloved repeatedly overrides his fear. (Chapters 494–502)

Abilities and cultivation

Xiao Yun cultivates the Yun Family's lightning arts and fights with the Galloping Lightning Sword. He can manifest an orange Profound Handle, though his talent and combat confidence initially lag behind the family's foremost heirs. (Chapters 499 and 513)

Relationships

  • Yun Che is his sworn elder brother and the biological child raised in the Xiao household.
  • Yun Qinghong and Mu Yurou are his adoptive parents, whom he continues to regard as his true parents.
