Feng Hengkong

Feng Hengkong is the emperor of the Divine Phoenix Empire and sect master of the Divine Phoenix Sect during the Seven Nation Ranking Tournament. His reign combines the empire’s political supremacy with its inherited Phoenix power, but his decisions after the death of the Phoenix Spirit turn that strength against Blue Wind. He is also the fiercely protective father of Feng Xue’er, whose judgment ultimately forces him to confront the cost of his rule.

Biography

Tournament, Phoenix inheritance, and secret weakness

Feng Hengkong presides over the Seven Nation Ranking Tournament as the dominant ruler of the Profound Sky nations. He initially treats Yun Che as a bloodline offender to be eliminated, authorizing lethal measures when Yun Che exposes the sect’s princes and defeats its leading disciples. His calculation changes whenever Feng Xue’er is involved: he treasures her above the sect itself, guards her contact with outsiders, and panics when she is endangered aboard the Primordial Profound Ark. Behind this public confidence, he knows that the ancestral Phoenix Spirit has died. Its final illusion temporarily deters the Four Sacred Grounds, but also leaves him certain that the empire must grow stronger before its weakness is discovered. (Chapters 398–471)

The invasion of Blue Wind

Convinced that Divine Phoenix needs Blue Wind’s hidden Purple Veined Crystal deposits, Feng Hengkong orders a full invasion and demands that the nation be conquered within three years. The campaign devastates Blue Wind and reaches its capital while Xue’er lies unconscious, and he conceals the war from her after she awakens. When Yun Che returns, destroys the invading forces, and reaches Phoenix City, Feng Hengkong defends the conquest as a necessity for his empire rather than an act of personal spite. Xue’er rejects that reasoning and protects Yun Che from her own clan, leaving her father no choice but to accept Blue Wind’s terms, withdraw his armies, pay reparations, and support reconstruction. Family, atonement, and survival

Feng Hengkong later turns reconciliation into a political and family bond by announcing Yun Che’s engagement to Xue’er. The arrangement also places the sect under the protection of a man it once tried to kill. His household nevertheless suffers another catastrophe when Crown Prince Feng Ximing betrays the sect in pursuit of Xue’er and is exposed; Feng Hengkong collapses under the knowledge that his own son helped bring ruin upon the family. He subsequently stands with the other powers against Xuanyuan Wentian, survives the Heavenly Sovereign crisis, and accepts Xue’er’s departure with Yun Che. On returning to Phoenix City, he immediately builds the promised transport formations linking it to Floating Cloud City and the Snow Region of Extreme Ice, converting a former enemy relationship into lasting cooperation. Appearance and personality

Feng Hengkong is a tall, imposing middle-aged man whose arrival carries a scorching heatwave. His bearing reflects both sovereign authority and the pride of the continent’s foremost fire sect; princes and ministers become instantly deferential before him. Even when facing forces beyond his control, he usually maintains the formal composure expected of an emperor. (Chapters 398 and 404–428)

He is calculating, proud, and willing to use lethal force to protect Divine Phoenix prestige. The Blue Wind invasion shows how readily he can turn fear for his realm into ruthless policy, while his treatment of Xue’er reveals a different extreme: her safety matters more to him than his throne, clan, or personal dignity. That devotion does not excuse his choices, but it creates the pressure through which he finally accepts defeat, restitution, and peace. (Chapters 420, 453, 650, and 722–730)

Abilities and cultivation

Feng Hengkong is a peak-stage Overlord whose profound cultivation, Phoenix bloodline, and imperial position place him above nearly every ruler in the Seven Nations. He commands Phoenix flames and can cross great distances in a streak of fire, while his aura and perception allow him to judge the cultivation of contestants far below his level. He remains subordinate to the hidden Monarchs who form the sect’s true foundation and cannot contend with the highest members of the Sacred Grounds. (Chapters 398, 426, 434, 650, and 653)

His greater power is institutional. As emperor and sect master, he directs the Divine Phoenix armies, elders, profound arks, formations, and inherited resources. He is an experienced host and negotiator, but his strategic judgment is compromised by dynastic pride and by the secrecy surrounding the Phoenix Spirit’s death. Once forced into peace, he uses the same administrative authority to arrange reparations, construction, and intercontinental support. (Chapters 419, 471, 649–755, and 919)

Relationships

• Feng Xue’er: His only daughter and the center of his private life. He protects her obsessively, but her moral refusal to accept the Blue Wind invasion ultimately outweighs his authority and redirects the empire toward peace.
• Yun Che: Feng Hengkong first regards Yun Che as a dangerous bloodline offender, then as an enemy capable of destroying his sect, and finally as Xue’er’s chosen partner and Divine Phoenix’s strongest external protector.
• Cang Yue: As Blue Wind’s empress, Cang Yue confronts him with the human and political cost of the invasion. Their settlement requires his public submission, withdrawal, and material restitution.
• Feng Ximing: His crown prince and intended successor. Ximing’s jealousy and betrayal transform Feng Hengkong’s dynastic ambitions into personal grief and expose the damage created by the family’s struggle for power.
• Feng Tianwei and Feng Zukui: His father and grandfather belong to the sect’s secluded Monarch foundation. Their superior experience constrains his authority in existential crises, even while he remains the public ruler.

Items

Feng Hengkong controls the Divine Phoenix Ark and the sect’s imperial resources rather than relying on a named personal weapon. He uses the ark for official travel and later accompanies Yun Che and Xue’er to Blue Wind aboard it. His most consequential material objective is the Purple Veined Crystal deposit beneath Blue Wind, whose attempted seizure drives the invasion and the empire’s eventual reparations.
