Raelia Glavien

Raelia Glavien is an elven griffin rider who chooses frontline service despite her family’s wishes. Her courage, independent judgment, and growing bond with Eryk make her central to the party’s later expeditions. (Chapters 64, 112, 331–343)

Biography

Choosing the sky

Raelia serves among Bartiradian griffin riders, flying for the army led by her brother General Glavien. She disobeys orders to scout near Macha, is shot down by Blaze, and survives a serious crash. Her brother later sends her home, but she chooses to return to action by volunteering for a mission protecting Vaeril. She describes herself as a trained Ranger and former Griffin Rider, and later joins the Labyrinth expedition; her rescue there becomes a turning point that brings her into Eryk’s circle. Raelia’s confidence is paired with awareness of risk. After her brother sends her home, she volunteers for a mission protecting Vaeril to return to active service despite his wishes. During the later Labyrinth expedition she is rescued by Eryk’s party, and she chooses to travel with them. Her griffin Baldo gives the group aerial scouting and mobility, while her Ranger training and magic provide several kinds of support. (Chapters 112, 159–167, 331–337)

Partnership with Eryk

Raelia and Eryk develop a close, affectionate relationship through repeated journeys and shared danger. She trusts him with her concerns, travels with his group, and often encourages him while also challenging his choices. Eryk’s modern idioms sometimes confuse her, but their teasing becomes part of their intimacy rather than a barrier. (Chapters 112, 159–167, 319–332)

In the dungeon expedition, Raelia contributes as both rider and mage. She scouts with Baldo, uses fire magic against dungeon creatures, and helps the group decide when to press forward or wait. She is eager to claim magical rewards but also supports Eryk when his long-standing wish to cast spells conflicts with what would be most useful to her. (Chapters 331–343)

Appearance and personality

Raelia has aquamarine eyes and a slight build. She is energetic, bold, and affectionate, with a strong desire to be useful rather than protected. Her confidence can make her impatient, especially around magical rewards or opportunities to prove herself, but she remains attentive to the safety of Baldo and her companions. Magic and abilities

Raelia combines Ranger training, griffin riding, and elven magic. She demonstrates an air spell as well as fire magic, including several fireballs from Baldo’s back before her aether is depleted. Her magic is constrained by available aether, so she cannot cast indefinitely during a fight. (Chapters 64, 112, 337, 343)

Griffin riding and aerial support

Raelia’s partnership with Baldo allows her to fly, scout over obstacles, and attack from above. She can use aerial views to help the group assess an area, but open flight may attract enemies or expose them to traps. In the maze, she uses fireballs while mounted, then returns to the group before the enemy can reach them. (Chapters 112, 331, 337)
