Demon Monarch Lion

Demon Monarch Lion is an elite third Firmament demon who targets Meng Chuan during a North River Pass battle. His strength, axe, devouring vortex, and hidden red-wind attack force Meng Chuan to reveal several trump cards, but an Essence Soul-enhanced saber strike kills him. (Chapters 153–158)

Biography

Duel at North River Pass

Lion initially withholds much of his strength while judging Zhang Yunhu and Meng Chuan, then coordinates other elite demon monarchs to keep Zhang occupied. He tries to pull Meng Chuan into his mouth with a divine-power vortex, changes to direct axe combat when the vortex breaks, and finally releases a concealed red wind before attacking at close range. His stated aim is simply to kill and eat the human defender; no broader personal motive is recorded. (Chapters 153–155)

Meng Chuan's Essence Soul prevents the red wind from disrupting him. He uses speed, baneful aura, a forbidden spell, and Power of Essence Soul to place a saber through Lion's glabella before the demon can block. Demon Slayer later consumes the corpse completely, and subsequent mentions treat the death as a concluded victory. (Chapters 155–158 and 180)

Appearance and personality

Lion is a physically imposing lion demon armed with a large axe. He is confident in his body and repeatedly taunts Meng Chuan's supposedly frail defenses, but coordinates allies rather than fighting without planning. The corpus does not give a human form, family, or history before the North River battle. (Chapters 153–155)

Abilities and cultivation

His divine power forms a black vortex that drags a target toward his mouth. He also has great physical strength, a durable skull, an axe, and a red wind intended to affect consciousness. The vortex can be broken by sufficiently strong consecutive attacks, the red wind fails against Meng Chuan's Essence Soul, and his reaction cannot match Meng Chuan's fully enhanced speed. • Meng Chuan: The defender whom Lion isolates and pressures, but ultimately cannot mentally disrupt or physically catch.
