Biography

The North Bank's Strongest

Ghostfang arrives in the Spirit Stream Sect from an unknown location roughly twenty years before the north–south Chosen battles, brought back by the peak lord of Ghostfang Peak and known by no other name. Rumored to command one hundred ghosts and regarded as the north bank's strongest disciple, he initially validates that reputation with effortless victories: a single finger attack nearly kills Lu Tianlei, drives Zhou Xinqi from the arena, and makes other Chosen concede rather than accept crippling injuries. His stillness and lack of display make the disparity more intimidating, leaving even rivals convinced that he exists on another level from ordinary Qi Condensation cultivators. Bai Xiaochun gives him the contest he has wanted. Ghostfang is pleased when his first attack is destroyed and escalates rather than treating the result as an insult, eventually opening the second seal of Ghosts Haunt the Night. Ghostfang enters the Fallen Sword Abyss believing his secret magic can support an eight-Tideflows Earthstring Foundation. He begins later than the leading contenders yet catches up until his eighth Tideflow destabilizes under the pressure of Bai Xiaochun's ninth. Rather than attack Bai Xiaochun, toward whom he feels no personal ill will, he tries to stop Song Que; that effort also fails, leaving Ghostfang with seven completed Tideflows. The result disappoints him, but it preserves a strong Dao foundation and establishes that his choices in competition are driven more by advancement and worthy opposition than indiscriminate hatred. When heavenstring energy appears, Ghostfang risks damage to that new foundation to contest it. Ghostfang joins the Spirit Stream forces during the threatened war with the Blood Stream Sect and controls a formation giant whose ghost qi reflects his own specialty. Once Bai Xiaochun halts that conflict and the sects unite, Ghostfang becomes known in the campaign against the Profound Stream Sect. After the River-Defying Sect is established, Ghostfang remains one of its recognized Chosen. Appearance and personality

Ghostfang is a young man most consistently distinguished by black robes, stillness, and an expressionless face. Black mist and ghost qi frequently surround him in combat. During his fight with Bai Xiaochun, an emergency escape turns more than a third of his hair white and briefly wrinkles his face with age, but it is not established that those changes remain permanent. Ghostfang specializes in the Dao of ghosts. His early secret magic, cultivation foundation, and combat applications are demonstrated in detail, while the techniques and realm he attains during his later Heavenspan Island service remain unstated.

Ghosts Haunt the Night

Ghosts Haunt the Night is one of the Spirit Stream Sect's ten secret magics and is considered comparable in difficulty to the Waterswamp Kingdom. Ghostfang's basic finger motion gathers black clouds and manifests a gigantic clawed ghost hand; even partial power can nearly kill other elite Qi Condensation disciples. Multiple finger attacks can follow in succession, and a greenwood banner accompanies his release of deeper seals. The emergency evasion he uses against Bai Xiaochun makes him temporarily transparent but exacts a visible cost in blood, age, and whitened hair, showing that not all of his ghost methods are consequence-free. Opening the second seal produces Ten Ghosts Haunt the Night.
