Weeping Soul

Weeping Soul is a sentient spirit beast whose innate power consumes ghosts, souls, and yin energy. She first appears in a small monkey form, later develops immense ape and malicious-ghost transformations, and eventually assumes the human identity You Luo in the Gray Realm. Although she addresses Han Li as Master, their bond is reciprocal: he nurtures and searches for her, while she repeatedly saves him from threats that conventional cultivation cannot counter. Biography

From controlled beast to trusted companion

The Weeping Soul Beast first belongs to the Azure Yang young master, who uses its rare ability against ghosts in Heavenvoid Hall. Yuan Yao later takes the beast and its controlling pearl, then gives both to Han in exchange for protection through the Path of Molten Rock. The transaction changes custody but does not reduce the creature to an ordinary object: even in its early monkey form, it responds emotionally, acts in battle, and possesses an evolving nature that its successive keepers do not fully understand. Han fully refines the flawed Weeping Soul Pearl after the beast evolves in the Umbra Realm, eliminating the headaches that had troubled its earlier users. Weeping Soul awakens from a black cocoon with stronger control over yin souls and gradually becomes affectionate toward Han, often sleeping until needed and then rubbing against him when summoned. Across the Heavenly South war and later journeys, her power against ghosts, corpses, and incorporeal beings repeatedly covers a weakness that Han's conventional sword and treasure methods cannot always address. Evolution and forced ascent

Repeated consumption produces several transformations. Weeping Soul can grow from a small glossy-black monkey into a giant ape and then into a red-furred malicious-ghost form with three horns, a crimson third eye, and black bone spikes. Her nasal light draws in yin qi and souls, while crimson lightning from the third eye is especially destructive to ghostly beings. These changes make her capable of devouring enemies comparable to high Spirit Realm cultivators, but they also connect her to powers beyond the realm's natural limits. After consuming the spiritual sense of a Heavenly Devilish Sovereign, Weeping Soul acquires knowledge linked to the True Immortal Realm and begins to suffer rejection from the Spirit Realm. A vast five-colored eye eventually descends and forcibly transports her upward, separating her from Han despite his attempt to intervene. The event demonstrates both the scale and the danger of her evolution: growth gives her access to higher soul powers, but it also makes the lower realm unable or unwilling to contain her. You Luo and the rescue from the Gray Realm

In the Immortal Realm, a Great Encompassment Heavenly Court cultivator summons Weeping Soul because her soul-devouring talent benefits his cultivation. His escaped corpse soul later abducts her, after which she flees to the Gray Realm and becomes a disciple of the Infernal Regional Master under the name You Luo. Her loyalty to the regional master is genuine because he treats her well, leaving her conflicted when Han appears as a prisoner rather than instantly willing to betray her new protector. (Chapters 3193–3197)

Weeping Soul nevertheless infiltrates Infernal prison, breaks the restrictions on Han and his companions, returns nine Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords and other confiscated belongings, and guides the escape toward the Baleful Cleansing Pond. She explains that she is repaying Han's long nurturing rather than obeying without thought. The rescue restores their companionship, but the strain exhausts her essential energy and leaves her unconscious, making Han's subsequent search for a cure one of his main reasons for entering the Devil Realm. Recovery and an independent path

Han refuses to abandon Weeping Soul while her condition worsens. He obtains Purple Sun Warm Jade, seals her safely when the material cannot fully restore her, and continues seeking treatment through the Devil Realm. When she awakens, she has made further progress in soul-law cultivation and can read soul auras well enough to sense hostility and aspects of character. Her recovery changes her role from a patient under protection back into an active guide and combatant whose perception can reveal dangers hidden from ordinary spiritual sense. (Chapters 3250–3461)

Weeping Soul continues protecting Han, countering soul attacks and Infernal Soul Bugs, searching captured souls for information, and helping preserve Lan Yuanzi's damaged soul for Lan Yan. Yet she ultimately chooses not to follow Han everywhere. The Underworld's environment is particularly suitable for her yin-soul and soul-devouring path, so she remains there temporarily to cultivate while Han moves on. That decision confirms that the master-companion bond can endure without requiring her to surrender independent goals. (Chapters 3461–3764)

Abilities and cultivation

Weeping Soul's abilities derive from an artificially refined spirit-beast constitution that evolves by consuming yin energy, ghosts, souls, and suitable spiritual entities. Her path later becomes explicit soul-law cultivation. She is unusually specialized: ghostly and soul-based enemies that resist ordinary attacks can become prey to her, while foes outside that specialization or opponents with overwhelming cultivation can still injure, exhaust, seal, or transport her. Soul devouring and transformations

In her small monkey form, Weeping Soul draws ghosts and yin qi into her nostrils with beams of light, refines them, and uses the consumed energy to evolve. Her giant ape form expands her physical strength and the reach of this absorption, while the red-furred malicious-ghost form adds horns, bone spikes, and a crimson third eye. These are successive manifestations of the same evolving being rather than separate creatures, and she can return to a smaller, less conspicuous form after battle. The third eye releases crimson lightning that is an even stronger bane of ghostly beings than her nasal light. It allows her to overwhelm a Faceless Ghost Monarch comparable to a Spatial Tempering cultivator and later contend with higher-realm soul creatures. The specialization is not unlimited: consuming exceptionally powerful consciousness or using her abilities for prolonged escape can destabilize her, trigger realm rejection, or deplete her essential energy until she falls unconscious. Soul-law perception and support

After her Immortal Realm recovery, Weeping Soul can sense soul auras and infer concealed hostility or disposition from them. She uses this perception to warn Han about people whose outward behavior is misleading and to detect dangers that ordinary spiritual sense cannot directly read. The story presents the result as an advance in her law cultivation, but it does not establish perfect omniscience; sufficiently concealed schemes can still evade her, and her interpretations remain judgments based on the auras she detects. Her soul powers also have restorative and investigative uses. She can consume or counter Infernal Soul Bugs, search souls for memories, preserve injured souls, and instruct others in the care needed for damaged spiritual essence. These applications make her crucial outside direct combat, especially when Han's allies suffer attacks that target consciousness rather than the body. Her choice to remain in the Underworld reflects the same specialization: its environment provides resources and conditions aligned with her cultivation. (Chapters 3481–3582, 3695–3764)

• Han Li: Han receives Weeping Soul from Yuan Yao and nurtures her across multiple realms. She calls him Master, but their actions establish mutual devotion: she repeatedly saves him, he searches for her after forced separation, and he crosses the Devil Realm seeking a cure when her rescue leaves her unconscious. • Yuan Yao: Yuan Yao takes Weeping Soul and its pearl from the Azure Yang young master, then transfers them to Han as the price of his protection through Heavenvoid Hall. Her warning about the incompletely refined pearl helps Han understand the risks of controlling the beast. (Chapters 445–464, 560–567)
• Infernal Regional Master: After escaping an Immortal Realm captor, Weeping Soul becomes his disciple in the Gray Realm and values his good treatment. Her reluctance to betray him gives her prison rescue moral weight: she aids Han while acknowledging a genuine debt to the master whose faction she is opposing. (Chapters 3193–3197)
• Shi Chuankong: Weeping Soul frees Shi and restores his confiscated possessions during the Infernal prison escape. He openly acknowledges the debt, and they later coordinate as members of Han's traveling group. (Chapters 3193–3197, 3249–3250)
