Daoist Xie

Daoist Xie is the autonomous being first encountered as a golden Sacred Crab and Faux Immortal Puppet in the Elder Devil Realm. He initially assists Han Li in exchange for Faux Immortal Elixir, presenting himself as an expressionless, golden-eyed young man whose formidable lightning attacks depend on supplied energy. What begins as a precise transaction becomes one of Han Li's most durable peer relationships: Han consistently addresses him as “Brother Xie,” and Xie repeatedly protects Han, his companions, and his treasures. His later history resolves an apparent identity puzzle. The “former owner” whose memories and restrictions remain inside the Golden Crab is not a separate master but Xie's own prior self, Shi Kongjie, the former lord of the Scalptia Spatial Domain and younger brother of Devilish Monarch Shi Kongyu. The crab puppet, its later replacement bodies, and his resurrected human form are successive vessels in one continuous struggle to preserve his soul, recover his remains, and complete the laws of puppetry. Biography

The golden crab's bargain

Han Li meets the golden Sacred Crab at Bitter Spirit Island while seeking the Spirit Cleansing Pond. The crab has guarded the sea of lightning for ages and will not simply become anyone's possession; it agrees to leave only because Han can supply Faux Immortal Elixir and accepts the being's conditions. After taking human form and naming himself Daoist Xie, he accompanies Han out of the Elder Devil Realm and destroys pursuing devilish lords with a degree of force that changes how enemies assess the group. (Chapters 2103–2117)

The arrangement remains explicitly transactional at first. Han provides drops of the elixir in advance, while Xie follows agreed instructions, protects Zhu Guo'er, and intervenes when the group faces opponents beyond Han's safe margin. His silence and aloofness are not mindless obedience: he has substantial autonomy, refuses to pretend Han is already his true master, and later explains the additional conditions that would have to be met. His consistent adherence to the bargain nevertheless builds the basis for mutual trust. (Chapters 2120, 2139–2152, 2191)

Ascension, sacrifice, and recovery

After Han reaches Grand Ascension, Daoist Xie becomes more than hired force. He advises him on immortal techniques and formations, joins the campaign against the Stemborer Queen, helps oppose the descended immortal Ma Liang, and enters the ascension gate with Han and Jin Tong. During the ambush that follows, attackers seal Han's seventy-two Azure Bamboo Cloudswarm Swords; Xie detonates his immortal puppet body to break the seal, preserving only his core and helping the swords escape capture. (Chapters 2191, 2214–2258, 2407–2451, 2653)

Han later locates the weakened core inside another puppet near the Blaze Dragon Dao. Xie remembers the ambush only in fragments, but he resumes their old compact and helps identify the assailant when those memories return. Han studies puppetry, supplies arrays, a linked Golden Immortal puppet, lightning materials, and a Lightning Soul Crystal, while Xie directs the technical work. The resulting vessel can display Golden Immortal power but consumes Immortal Origin Stones at a punishing rate, emphasizing that this is a fueled puppet state rather than a normal cultivation breakthrough. Scalptia and the recovered self

Inside Scalptia, the fragmented history becomes clear when Xie's voice awakens from the holy remains. He tells Han that the supposed former owner was himself: after losing his spatial-law cultivation in a royal struggle, he entered Scalptia, inherited a puppetry path, and reached Great Encompassment. Betrayal during the severance of his final corpse soul destroyed his body, forcing him to seal soul and memories into the Golden Crab and cast it into a lower realm in hope of eventual resurrection. Han reunites the heart, bonded core, and remains and guards the process. (Chapters 3434–3445)

The resurrection completes Xie's journey from human to puppet and back to human, allowing him to grasp the laws of puppetry fully and become their Dao Ancestor. He contains his severed corpse souls in Black, White, and Golden Spirit puppets, opens the way out of Scalptia, gives Han a True Profound Pill for a future Great Encompassment breakthrough, and stabilizes Weeping Soul long enough for Han to seek specialized help. His request that Han eventually aid him against Shi Kongyu remains an appeal between allies, not an assertion of ownership. (Chapters 3445–3446)

War against Heaven and lasting injury

Xie's war with Shi Kongyu begins as a genuine struggle between brothers, but the Reincarnation Palace Master's warning about Gu Huojin eventually turns their conflict into strategic deception. Xie integrates his puppetry laws with the powers of other Dao Ancestors to create convincing decoys during the final war. The work contributes to the coalition against Heavenly Court, yet heavy use of a paramount position carries a personal cost: destruction of his puppets and repeated law output worsen assimilation by the Heavenly Dao until half his body is gone or fading. He survives the conflict but does not emerge restored. In the final gathering, Daoist Xie sits in a wheelchair with half his body fading into the surrounding space, calmly playing go with Violet Spirit while Han and Nangong Wan watch. The scene preserves both consequence and development: the once expressionless contract partner remains physically impaired, but he has become part of Han's intimate circle and appears untroubled by his diminished condition. Appearance and personality

In his first human guise, Daoist Xie appears about twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, with golden eyes, dark-green eyebrows, and an almost entirely expressionless face. He commonly sits as still as a wooden statue, speaks only when necessary, and reacts to danger without drama. His earlier golden-crab form and later armored puppet vessels are bodies or containers associated with the same consciousness, not separate characters or ordinary equipment. Xie is restrained, practical, and exacting about agreements. Early service depends on energy and clearly defined conditions, but he consistently repays aid, remembers promises, and intervenes decisively when Han's life or companions are at stake. After recovering his past, he shows more open gratitude, humor, and strategic ambition without losing that measured temperament. Even as a Dao Ancestor, he admits the limits of his own law path when he cannot cure Weeping Soul rather than disguising uncertainty with authority. (Chapters 2191, 2653, 3445–3446, 3849)

Abilities and cultivation

Immortal puppetry and vessel transfer

Daoist Xie's defining ability is transferring and preserving consciousness through puppet cores and constructed bodies. The Golden Crab contains his soul and sealed memories; later, he analyzes a linked immortal puppet, designs lightning arrays for modification, and uses a Dao Warrior primary bean and Lightning Soul Crystal to bridge incompatible attributes. His expertise allows damaged or incomplete vessels to achieve combat viability, but their strength depends on construction, fusion quality, and an external energy supply. (Chapters 2653, 2736–2780)

As Puppetry Dao Ancestor, he can seal his three corpse souls into sentient Black, White, and Golden Spirit puppets and compel them to perform tasks despite their differing dispositions. He also creates high-grade decoy bodies containing the law powers of other Dao Ancestors. These feats show mastery over identity, control, and embodiment, while his final assimilation injuries demonstrate the danger of using Dao Ancestor laws heavily enough to draw the Heavenly Dao into the body. Lightning and fueled combat

The Faux Immortal and replacement puppet bodies channel golden and purple lightning for ranged beams, restraining chains, explosive spheres, and enormous lightning swords. Xie can kill ordinary devilish lords easily and, after fusing with a Golden Immortal puppet, release Golden Immortal-class pressure. This output is not free: going all out in that vessel can burn roughly ten Immortal Origin Stones per second, so Han's supplies directly determine how long Xie can maintain maximum force. Knowledge and strategic support

Xie recognizes immortal formations, puppet structures, law effects, and treasures that Han cannot initially identify. He helps organize captured materials, reconstructs details of the post-ascension ambush, advises Han on Weeping Soul's soul-dissipation condition, and uses the essential power of Scalptia to open a passage back to the Devil Realm. His knowledge is often as important as direct combat, particularly once Han's enemies operate beyond the experience available from the lower realms. (Chapters 2191, 2653, 2929, 3445–3446)

• Han Li: Their association begins as an energy-for-assistance agreement and develops into a peer bond. Xie helps Han survive the Elder Devil Realm, the Ma Liang crisis, ascension, Scalptia, and the final war; Han recovers Xie's core and enables his resurrection. Their habitual “Brother Xie” address reflects mutual regard rather than master-and-puppet ownership. (Chapters 2115–2152, 2407–2451, 2653, 3434–3446, 3849)
• Shi Chuankong: Xie is Shi Chuankong's paternal uncle and a former rival of the prince's father. Despite that royal conflict, he assists Shi Chuankong in Scalptia and is attended by him when assimilation injuries worsen during the final war. (Chapters 3445, 3832)
• Weeping Soul: Xie supplies the earlier sealing method used to stabilize Weeping Soul and examines her after becoming a Dao Ancestor. He cannot cure the soul-dissipation law affecting her, but keeps her condition stable and directs Han toward a soul-law specialist. (Chapters 3437, 3446)
