Hazeline is a Dark Elf alchemist and A-class Wizard whose judgment gives the unknown Goblin Alchemist his first professional foothold. Her business partnership with Kim Sae-Jin develops into one of his oldest bonds, drawing her back into combat, the conflict with Bathory, and ultimately the wizarding world she had abandoned.

Biography

The Goblin Alchemist and Yoseon House

At thirty-one, Hazeline had already earned the right to manage the Yoseon Alchemy House, a post restricted to accomplished alchemists. When Sae-Jin anonymously submitted the first batch of A Goblin's Kindness, she immediately recognized that its clarity and combined healing and regeneration placed it at least in the middle grade and possibly the high grade. Rather than treating him as a disposable supplier, she revealed her name, race, and face as a gesture of professional courtesy, explained the private-commission system, offered a reduced house percentage, and promised to make the Goblin line internationally famous. Once he accepted, she moved just as decisively: she handled the most valuable offer, prepared publicity, and used her own reputation to push the potion toward the highest grade. (Chapters 6, 10–11)

Hazeline protected the partnership by supplying ingredients at cost and offering Yoseon's procurement network, while Sae-Jin trusted her enough to disclose his real name. Her support soon went beyond ordinary brokerage. When he needed a Werewolf Mana Stone that his current potion income could not cover, she calculated the commercial value of his stock and lent him the remaining millions from her own fortune. His disappearance during a Monster Outbreak exposed both sides of her attachment: fear that he had died, panic over the money she had risked, angry threats to track him down, and finally intense relief when he called. Her caution was not baseless—Dark Elves commonly kept cash rather than trusting banks, and she said the loan represented most of what she owned—but she still allowed him to repay slowly so that the alchemist she expected to work with would not be left destitute. That calculated risk made Hazeline Sae-Jin's earliest sponsor and a beneficiary of his rise. She later borrowed from him to expand Yoseon, co-founded an online space that shared ingredient knowledge and accessible potion recipes, and represented their export venture even though public presentations terrified her. Her initially strategic interest therefore matured into loyal collaboration: she continued negotiating international contracts and defending the shared enterprise after it had grown far beyond the desperate first sale that joined them. (Chapters 63 and 101–105)

Secrets, vampire attacks, and Jin Seh-Hahn

Sae-Jin's growing trust pulled Hazeline back toward the profession she had left. She helped him train his Mana control even though channeling her own Mana into those sessions left her light-headed, and her resentment of his unnatural growth never overrode her commitment to teach him. When vampires ambushed them, she first assumed her own past commissions had brought the attack upon him and tried to take responsibility. She drove away their wrecked car with a wind spell, formed and split a Mana Spear against nine attackers, and kept fighting after an isolation barrier suppressed her Mana and a tentacle wounded her. Once Sae-Jin revealed his Monster transformations, she accepted the secret and helped kill an enemy through a narrow opening rather than recoiling from him. (Chapters 84–86)

That knowledge made her one of the few people able to interpret Sae-Jin's multiplying identities. Her experience separating ingredients down to individual grains helped her notice similarities between Sae-Jin and the celebrated Knight Jin Seh-Hahn; a deliberately probing message caused him to expose the connection himself. After Jin's apparent death, public gossip recast Hazeline and Jin as lovers. She did not hurry to reject the story, partly because her feelings for Sae-Jin had become painful to suppress, even though she knew he was living with Yu Sae-Jung. At a bar she used magically fortified liquor to gather the courage to speak intimately about those feelings. The text does not present her words as a direct confession, but Sae-Jin clearly understood what they meant. (Chapters 118 and 120)

Hazeline's attachment did not reduce her to a romantic rival. When Sae-Jin fought a vampire operation at sea, she located the physical link anchoring its Fissure at great depth and expended so much Mana destroying it that she collapsed from exhaustion. Her intervention prevented the enemy from continuing to use that link and allowed Sae-Jin's Leviathan form to complete the battle. She concealed the fact that she had repeatedly taken her yacht out hoping to meet him, instead claiming that Wizards had adopted sea travel because of the ocean's Mana density; even in that embarrassed evasion, she asked only for a future meal in exchange for saving him. Her rivalry with Sae-Jung became explicit after this loss. Unable to call Sae-Jin directly, Hazeline visited the Guild and admitted that she had liked Jin Seh-Hahn greatly, then emphasized that she had met and financed Sae-Jin before he became a Hunter. Sae-Jung countered that what mattered was who stood beside him in the present. Hazeline's jealousy and bitterness remained real, but so did her membership in the same community: she did not expose Sae-Jin's secrets or try to break the couple apart, and her candor replaced the aloof distance with which she had begun their partnership. The artificial heart and the Bathory operation

When Sae-Jin disclosed a predicted catastrophe and proposed cooperating with Nosferatu against Bathory, Hazeline faced both an ancestral conflict and a personal choice. Elves regarded vampires as enemies, and she had never taken a commission on this scale, much less one requiring an alliance with them. Sae-Jin nevertheless trusted her with the plan before his other acquaintances. That confidence mattered to her, but she also chose the mission on its own terms: she disliked half measures, wanted to attempt something consequential, and accepted the danger because saving the world was a cause worthy of her abilities. (Chapter 134)

Her assigned task was to master the artificial heart, whose embedded spell could temporarily suppress Mana. Hazeline repeatedly isolated herself to study the device, emerged physically haggard from practice, and continued until she could activate it to her satisfaction. Her breakthrough produced an uncharacteristically exuberant celebration, but it also made her the technical fulcrum of the trap: once Bathory entered the prepared space, Hazeline had to trigger the heart during a window measured in seconds so the other attackers could strike before the vampire recovered. The operation did not kill Bathory, but Hazeline executed her role. When the rescue party broke into Bathory's isolated space, she activated Mana suppression and maintained it through the energy stored in the Guild's reserve of Monster Mana Stones. The effect deprived Bathory of magic long enough for arbalests and the party's melee fighters to land a coordinated assault. Its limit was equally clear: sustaining the suppression exhausted both the stored stones and Hazeline's own reserve, leaving her unable to contribute offensive spells, and the group had to retreat when Bathory's physical power outlasted the trap. The failure to settle the conflict therefore did not negate Hazeline's success; it demonstrated that the Guild's plan depended on her study, timing, and endurance, not merely on her raw attack power. Reconciliation and the Wizard Tower

The approaching global crisis also forced Hazeline to confront the older failure that had driven her from magic. Years earlier, after a long friendship with Kim Yu-Rin had deteriorated through accumulating misunderstandings, Hazeline poisoned Yu-Rin's potion; Yu-Rin survived and severed Hazeline's arm. Hazeline regenerated the limb by creating an elixir called A Fairy's Liquor, but neither that achievement nor her career in alchemy resolved her guilt. When Sae-Jin proposed her as Lord of the new Dawn & TM Wizard Tower, she initially rejected the position as beyond her abilities. His assurance that Yu-Rin had consented led to a private reconciliation in which Hazeline sobbed while Yu-Rin comforted her, finally loosening the emotional barrier that had kept her outside the wizarding world for eight years. Hazeline entered the Tower as an unexpectedly appointed A-class Wizard rather than its publicly assumed candidate. Her command was immediately challenged by a faction around the High Elf Shahon, and she concealed the strain from Sae-Jin because she did not want to worry him. He answered by entrusting her with two unpublished Bangbae-Dong grimoires and the discretion to select their proofreaders, publicly meaningful evidence that the mysterious Wizard approved her. Hazeline used that authority and knowledge to overcome the internal opposition within ten days. The result completed a major change in her role: the private alchemist who struggled to speak before a conference became the head of an international magical institution. (Chapters 158–159)

During the final crisis, Hazeline remained with the Guild circle trying to understand Sae-Jin's plans and feared that his claimed business trip was a departure for war. Her response was personal rather than triumphant: she cried on Yu-Rin's shoulder, pressed him for an explanation, and endured the uncertainty alongside the people with whom she had rebuilt her life. After the catastrophe and Sae-Jin's disappearance, she continued leading the Dawn & TM Tower as practical magic gained new importance; the institution became recognized as the world's best Tower through the usable legacy of the Bangbae-Dong grimoires. She still set urgent work aside for the Guild's gatherings and, when Sae-Jin reappeared without his memories, moved near him with the others and took part in considering how those memories might be restored. Her commitment to him thus survived romantic disappointment, institutional pressure, and even his loss of identity. (Chapters 168 and 172–174)

Appearance and personality

Hazeline has long, straight indigo hair, pale alabaster skin, pointed ears, and exceptionally symmetrical features. Her pale complexion is atypical for a Dark Elf: she created and drank a skin-whitening potion that nearly killed her, although the corpus does not establish why she was willing to take that risk. She commonly hides her body and face beneath a thick robe, especially around strangers or in public. (Chapters 6, 84, and 101)

She prefers dark rooms, has an unusually sensitive nose, and is highly interested in perfume. Crowds and concentrated public attention can produce severe fear: she stutters through presentations, freezes when strangers recognize her, and once clung to an employee after becoming overwhelmed in a busy lobby. In small trusted groups, however, she can be expressive, playful, and openly affectionate. (Chapters 14, 101, and 124)

Hazeline combines exacting professional judgment with a volatile temper. She quickly reads the value of potions, contracts, and magical devices, yet anger often brings profanity, threats, or impulsive behavior. Pride and jealousy are recurring weaknesses, particularly around Sae-Jin and Sae-Jung, while guilt makes her evasive around Yu-Rin. Against those flaws, she repeatedly shows loyalty under pressure: she protects confidences, risks her savings and life for collaborators, persists through exhausting technical work, and refuses to treat a world-threatening mission as something to approach halfheartedly. Traits and abilities

Hazeline's two principal disciplines are alchemy and magic. Her magic was her original profession, while alchemy became the foundation of her public reputation after she left the wizarding world. The corpus identifies her as an A-class Wizard and an accomplished Alchemy House Manager, but it does not give her a Trait or describe a system-like personal ability unique to her. Alchemy and potioncraft

Hazeline can evaluate potion quality by close inspection, understand demanding formulas, source rare ingredients, and navigate grading, sales, and regulatory systems. During the vampire ambush, she formed a black, lava-like spear, divided it into nine independently aimed projectiles, and later compressed a spear enough to send it through a narrow crack and burn through a vampire's neck. A specialized isolation barrier countered the technique by slowing her internal Mana flow and shrinking the spears, showing that anti-Mana environments can sharply reduce its scale. (Chapters 84–85)

She also demonstrates Hellfire, which erupts as deep scarlet flame and kills a vampire once the enemy barrier weakens, and a chant-driven blast of air strong enough to fling aside a ruined car chassis. Her offensive magic is powerful but not effortless: she needs time and Mana to cast, can be interrupted or suppressed, and cannot compensate indefinitely when an opponent removes access to Mana. Detection, barriers, and magical support

Hazeline can summon a defensive barrier on short notice and apply her Mana to another person's training. Artificial-heart Mana suppression

Hazeline's use of the artificial heart is equipment-derived rather than innate. Through repeated practice she learned to activate the spell stored inside it, which temporarily interrupts a target's Mana flow. Against Bathory, the effect was amplified or sustained with the Guild's stock of Monster Mana Stones and created the brief opening required for a massed attack. The corpus never explains the heart's internal mechanism or exact activation procedure, so her mastery is demonstrated operational control rather than authorship of the spell. The suppression has hard resource limits.
