Shi Pingchuan

Shi Pingchuan is Chongming's prime minister and a Qi Yuan contestant who uses state power to suppress rival Heavenly Demons before gambling his position on a failed coup.

Biography

State suppression and a fatal bid for the throne

Possessing the prime minister's body gives Shi an intelligence network and direct access to the emperor. He uses Luo Shuang as bait, advocates nationwide purges, and leaves other contestants in Chongming with almost no room to develop, turning bureaucratic control into rapid personal growth. Although he recognizes Du Ge and reaches second place, fear of losing his independent advantage makes him prefer secret coordination to joining Du Ge openly. (Chapters 316–318, 328–331)

Shi eventually allies with Fourth Prince Gu Shiming in a palace coup, attacking the right prime minister's residence and surrounding the palace to force the emperor's abdication. Pei Ma'er's supernatural intervention turns the capital troops against the conspirators; Pei kills Shi, defeats the coup's grandmasters, and captures the prince. Shi's death shows the weakness of a strategy rooted in institutional control when a rival has grown directly from the chaos that strategy creates. (Chapters 360–361)
