Biography

Documented arc

Nie Chen enters the ruins with Tan Xu and Zhen Ling Meng as one of Kun Lun's newly ascendant shen-power disciples. Though friendly in ordinary life, he enforces mission discipline, uses the Determination Compass to locate opponents, and prioritizes the shen device nucleus over indiscriminate fighting. After the team reaches the Rain Hall, he yields the Rain Commanding Banner because its affinity does not suit his yang, masculine sword essence and redirects attention to the main objective. (Chapters 781, 791, 796, and 800)

The group then encounters Zuo Mo. Nie Chen survives the first heavy axe exchange, deflects three hidden Sun Shen Thorns, and recognizes Zuo Mo through his sun shen power. He commits to the battle with fierce Kun Lun pride, overchannels his flying sword until it melts into liquid metal, and launches a final strike. Zuo Mo's Anti Dragon Claw overwhelms it; Nie Chen is engulfed by the axe energy and dies standing, provoking anger among Kun Lun disciples who knew him. (Chapters 800–805)

Appearance and personality

Nie Chen is not called handsome, but has a lively presence and crystal-like eyes during combat. He is friendly, popular, calm, careful, and more objective-focused than Tan Xu. Pride in Kun Lun still drives him into a lethal confrontation after he recognizes Zuo Mo. (Chapters 781, 796, and 800–805)

Abilities and cultivation

Nie Chen cultivates shen power and a yang, masculine sword essence. His reactions become unusually clear under mortal danger: finger movements deflect concealed thorns, while his flying sword attacks with snake-like precision. He can pour enough shen power into the blade to liquefy its surface and make a final lightning-like thrust. (Chapters 800–804)

He is an elite but inexperienced outside sect competitions. Zuo Mo's strength leaves his arm numb after one exchange, and the overchanneled sword cannot withstand the Anti Dragon Claw's full axe energy. (Chapters 791 and 800–804)
