Marshal Yu

Marshal Yu is a regional mo ruler whose expansion, elite troops, and personal cultivation make him one of the most powerful figures to enter the Great Peace City conflict. He attempts to take the Anti Dragon Claw and recruit Xiao Mo Ge's group, but the confrontation ends with his death at A Gui's hands.

Biography

Expansion and recruitment

Marshal Yu is first established through the pressure he applies beyond his own territory. He invites Ceng Yi to submit, and when Ceng Yi refuses, Yu's agents attempt to use Ceng Lian'er as leverage; one subordinate is killed in the resulting conflict. At the same time, Yu is expanding so aggressively that most of his battalions are deployed away from him. This leaves the roughly ten-thousand-strong Yu Frontier Guard as the elite force he personally brings to Great Peace City. (Chapters 552–553, 599, 637)

Yu's arrival initially reassures ordinary residents because his public reputation contrasts with the Ming Bandits' predation. He is not there simply to restore order, however. He wants the newly emerged Anti Dragon Claw, sees exceptional value in Zuo Mo's shen power and subordinates, and expects Xiao Mo Ge to submit. Yu first allows his trusted experts to challenge the group, treating defeat as a path by which the opponents will enter his service, then intervenes personally when those retainers fail. Death at Great Peace City

Marshal Yu blocks Zuo Mo's Golden Crow Battering Ram, attempts to capture him alive, and then confronts the joined life-and-death power of Luo Li and Wo Li. His Rain Domain of No Return overcomes their more recently comprehended method through vastly greater accumulated power. The battle turns when the Anti Dragon Claw and Sun Crystal Seed clash through Zuo Mo, breaking Yu's domain and wounding him with the backlash. Zuo Mo, A Gui, and their companions immediately attack before he can recover. (Chapters 644–652)

Even while wounded, Yu can deploy his domain at close range and nearly land a fatal blow on Zuo Mo. A Gui silently enters the field behind him and strikes from three cun away, causing his body to fall from the sky. The Yu Frontier Guards witness his death and collapse as an organized force; surviving weapons and supplies pass into Zuo Mo's faction. Later accounts often credit Xiao Mo Ge with killing Marshal Yu, but the direct scene identifies A Gui's ambush as the fatal attack. (Chapters 653–665, 689–693)

Appearance and personality

Marshal Yu initially remains concealed in a chariot behind silk curtains, speaking in a cool voice while his subordinates act. When he enters the battle, the source describes a tall figure appearing without anyone seeing how he moved. It does not provide a stable account of his face, hair, age, or clothing, so a more detailed physical portrait would be speculative. (Chapters 638–644)

Yu is composed, authoritative, acquisitive, and accustomed to obedience. He appreciates talent and offers knowledge or protection to useful followers, but his generosity is conditional on submission and service. His confidence becomes disdain when a general-level opponent challenges him; he can still recognize an exquisite technique and acknowledge a worthy opponent, yet repeatedly underestimates the combined danger of Zuo Mo's group. Abilities and cultivation

Marshal-level accumulation

Marshal Yu advances successively through colonel, brigadier, general, and marshal level, building a foundation strong enough to overwhelm newer insights through raw accumulation. He gathers air across a hundred-li radius for a single response, restrains Zuo Mo through a powerful attracting field, and can apply domain effects even in close quarters. His status does not make him invulnerable: he is less skilled in close physical combat, and coordinated attacks can exploit the instant his attention or control slips. (Chapters 644–653)

Rain Domain of No Return

The Rain Domain of No Return creates a gentle, intoxicating drizzle that slows consciousness, makes bodies heavy, redirects movement, and suppresses hostile techniques. It overpowers the Life and Death Lock because Yu's accumulated power is much greater, even though he recognizes the opposing method as more profound. The domain is broken by the higher-level collision between the Anti Dragon Claw and Sun Crystal Seed, and its backlash wounds him; it is therefore dominant against generals, not absolute against every power. Weapons and command

Yu commands the ten-thousand-strong Yu Frontier Guard and has gathered ten renowned experts as the Ten Yu Frontier Guards. His Green Carp Tongue Sword can rend space and connect its attack to Rotten Jie, while the army's depth lets general-level officers reorganize even after the command formation is disrupted. Much of that military power is deployed elsewhere during his fatal battle, a limitation Zuo Mo later recognizes as essential to the outcome. (Chapters 637–646, 652–663)

Relationships

Zuo Mo

Zuo Mo, known to Marshal Yu as Xiao Mo Ge, is simultaneously a recruitment target, a source of shen knowledge, and the holder of the Anti Dragon Claw. Yu tries to force his submission rather than negotiate as an equal. Zuo Mo survives only through group coordination and the uncontrolled clash of higher powers, then becomes publicly credited with Yu's death. (Chapters 638–669)

A Gui and Ceng Lian'er

Ceng Lian'er bears a grievance against Yu because his people tried to use her against her father, and Yu orders that she not escape once he recognizes her Divine Moon shen power. A Gui is the person who ultimately kills him, striking from behind while his domain and attention are committed to Zuo Mo. (Chapters 552–553, 636–653)

Yu Frontier Guards

Marshal Yu invests heavily in regional experts such as Wu Yu, Mister Tong, Qian Qing, and the other Ten Yu Frontier Guards. Their families and futures depend on his patronage, while he evaluates them in terms of usefulness and promises access to copied shen knowledge. Their loyalty holds through severe losses but breaks when they see him fall. (Chapters 638–653)
