A Wen
A Wen is a former xiu slave and arena survivor rescued into Shu Long's Guard Camp. His exceptional aptitude transforms the heavy Hardship Guard method into a rare speed-focused Mo Shadow Guard path, making him the camp's scout, mobile striker, and second great talent beside Shu Long.
Biography
The rescued arena survivor
A Wen returns to Guard Camp in terrible condition after surviving repeated slave-arena selections. His captors call him a rare seventh-grade xiu slave and intend to use him as a slave soldier or living cauldron, but Shu Long's group refuses to surrender him. After his wounds heal, A Wen stays with his former companions and begins Hardship Guard later than everyone else. His survival-hardened body and temperament make the difference: he rapidly forms a black spear from killing essence, and his speed of advancement surprises even Zuo Mo. (Chapters 310–336)
The new cultivation produces a path distinct from the rest of Guard Camp. A Wen's light feathered armor, extreme speed, and ability to thrust through space mark him as a Mo Shadow Guard rather than a heavy defensive guard. Fighting a fiend soul panther proves both the value and cost of that specialization. He can match the creature's speed and concentrate force evenly through his spear, but the panther is stronger; to kill it he drives his armor and accumulated power into a full-force attack that leaves him unconscious. The victory overturns Vermillion Bird Camp's assumption that Guard Camp lacks individual combat ability without making A Wen invulnerable. (Chapters 357–366)
Scout, formation leader, and senior fighter
A Wen's battlefield role expands after he leads Crow Fiend Mo Kill Formation for the first time against a massive sand puppet. The gathered killing essence nearly overwhelms his mind and threatens to make him lose control or explode, so he abandons imitation of Shu Long and channels the pressure into his spear. That choice shows the same principle as his shadow-guard development: he can use Guard Camp's shared system, but must route its power through a faster and more concentrated personal method. Dissatisfied with his limits, he later endures the sandstorm outside the defensive formation while close to jindan-level advancement. (Chapters 414–422)
Zuo Mo uses A Wen as the practice partner for sensing and controlling a mo formation, and the experience helps integrate him into more complex command work. He receives a forged dark-green spear matching his killing-essence weapon, advances to brigadier, and becomes Guard Camp's exceptional scout because the rest of the camp is too slow for that duty. In later missions he detects enemy groups, reports rather than attacking alone, guides infiltration, and competes with the orange-haired yao without abandoning team discipline. His last documented operations place him alive among Mo Cloud Sea's young shen-power fighters. (Chapters 430–470, 514–561, 612–624, 747–830)
Appearance and personality
A Wen is young, thin, and small beside Guard Camp's burly men. After recovering he looks healthy and wears close, exquisite black armor made from layers of long feather-like plates; when fully activated, the feathers cover his face as a mask and extend like dark plumes. This lighter armor visually distinguishes his speed path from the camp's usual heavy guards. (Chapters 310–357, 362)
He is lively, active, clever, competitive, and quick to fight, earning the nickname Little Monkey. Arena survival also gives him an experienced hunter's calm and a strong resistance to killing essence. With maturity he becomes less impulsive in operations: even when hostile groups make him murderous, he counts their forces and reports to Shu Long instead of striking alone. His ongoing quarrels with the orange-haired yao show that the old competitiveness remains. (Chapters 357–366, 414–415, 552, 751–830)
Abilities and cultivation
Great Day Hardship Guard and formed armor
A Wen begins with Hardship Guard, a dangerous mo skill that absorbs black fiendish energy and progresses rapidly through hardship. Pu Yao later modifies the camp's system into Great Day Hardship Guard, whose presence resembles Zuo Mo's Great Day mo physique. A Wen condenses killing essence into armor and a spear rather than relying on separate early equipment. The spear dissipates if it leaves his hand, and excessive shared killing essence can overwhelm his consciousness, turn him into a killing monster, or make his body explode. (Chapters 310–357, 414–415, 433–434)
Mo Shadow Guard movement and spear technique
A Wen's rare result is a Mo Shadow Guard: feathered armor converts his cultivation into explosive speed and aerial nimbleness. He is only slightly slower than Zuo Mo's Light Void Wings and can make the spearpoint appear anywhere within roughly one hundred zhang, concentrating red-black force through a narrow thrust. The path is exceptional precisely because Guard Camp's standard method favors durable, slow protectors. A Wen's own panther battle shows the limit—speed can match a faster opponent, but a stronger body can still force him into a costly all-out strike. (Chapters 357–362, 437–439)
Formation leading, scouting, and rank progression
When leading Crow Fiend Mo Kill Formation, A Wen receives the formation's gathered killing essence and must preserve mental clarity while directing it. His first attempt nearly overloads him, so technique and battle intuition matter more than simple capacity. Later training as a lone soldier, instruction from Pu Yao and Wei, and repeated campaigns take him to brigadier level. He becomes a natural scout and infiltration guide, but the role remains relative: exceptionally fast beings such as Silly Bird still surpass him, and he depends on reporting and team response when enemy numbers are large. (Chapters 414–439, 514–561)
Power progression
| Stage / Realm / Ability | Chapter(s) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Great Day Hardship Guard | 310–357 | Advances through black fiendish energy and hardship, forming killing-essence armor and a spear; overload can still destroy mind or body. |
| Mo Shadow Guard | 357–362 | Develops Guard Camp's rare speed-focused result, gaining feathered armor, aerial agility, and a near-instant spear threat. |
| Mo battle general | 476–479 | Wei's instruction turns A Wen and Shu Long into the camp's first command specialists. |
| Brigadier level confirmed | 560 | The return from Shattered Stone Jie explicitly identifies A Wen and Shu Long as Guard Camp's original two brigadier-level leaders. |
Relationships
Shu Long
Shu Long rescues A Wen back into the community of hardship guards, oversees his recovery, and teaches him without jealousy. A Wen calls him Long ge and becomes the camp's second strongest early fighter. He can lead the shared formation when Shu Long is occupied, but he does not replace Shu Long as Guard Camp's established commander; his enduring specialties are speed, scouting, and concentrated attack. (Chapters 310–357, 414–415, 458–470)
Zuo Mo, Pu Yao, and Wei
A Wen addresses Zuo Mo as Daren and treasures the opportunity to display his progress. Zuo Mo gives him a place in Guard Camp, tests formation resonance with him, and supplies the forged spear that matches his path. Pu Yao and Wei both recognize his rare talent and invest in teaching him. The attention accelerates his growth, but the corpus continues to show training, danger, and exhaustion rather than treating talent as automatic mastery. (Chapters 336–376, 430–470, 515–552)
Nan Yue and the younger team
Nan Yue, Cang Ze, the black smoke yao, the orange-haired yao, and A Wen repeatedly train or deploy together after the Mo Skill Steles. A Wen's speed and directness complement Nan Yue's ranged leadership and the black smoke yao's planning. His rivalry with the orange-haired yao supplies comic friction and competitive pressure, while high-priority missions force both fighters to follow wider organizational goals. (Chapters 539–624, 747–830)
Items
| Item | Connection and disposition |
|---|---|
| Killing-essence black spear | A Wen forms this black spear through Hardship Guard cultivation. It bears a dark-red tassel and dissipates if it leaves his hand, so it is a cultivation manifestation rather than a transferable weapon. (Chapters 336–357) |
| Dark-green serpent spear | A Wen receives a physical mo weapon from the batch Zuo Mo prepares for Guard Camp. Its straight serpent-shaped body and spearhead match the killing-essence weapon he already formed; it belongs to A Wen, not Shu Long or Zuo Mo after distribution. (Chapters 458–470) |
| Feathered black armor | His Hardship Guard power forms light, layered armor whose long plumes support speed and can cover his face. This cultivated armor is distinct from the later forged dark-green spear. (Chapters 357–362, 434) |
