Soul Pivot

The Soul Pivot is a black artifact originating in White Emperor City that becomes the core of Zhou Dufu's mausoleum. Paired with the Soul Wood, it controls the Garden's monsters and supports Nanke's fusion with the Golden-winged Great Peng. (Chapters 305–336, 456–620, 773–782, and 1175)

History

Core of the mausoleum

Chen Changsheng and Xu Yourong discover the black Pivot inside Zhou Dufu's mausoleum and identify it as an unusually well-preserved White Emperor City artifact. Installed before the obsidian coffin, it functions as the mausoleum's core. Nanke carries the paired Soul Wood outside; when she comes close enough, the key rouses the Pivot, opens the coffin sequence, and drives the monster tide. Chen lacks the cultivation and spiritual sense needed to suppress the berserk core through his authority over the Garden, and forcing the attempt risks severe damage to the surrounding miniature world. Remote control and destruction

The paired system lets Nanke influence monsters and fuse with the Great Peng spirit, though later analysis concludes that holding only the Soul Wood prevents complete control. During the battle, the awakened swords break the Pivot and then help hold up the collapsing sky before leaving the Garden. Later accounts sometimes describe Nanke as relying on the Soul Pivot because she operates through its paired key; they do not establish that she physically held the Pivot inside the mausoleum. A final revelation states that Black Robe had previously possessed it and used it in arranging the demon experts' entry, clarifying prior custody without undoing its destruction. Abilities and properties

• Together with the Soul Wood, the Pivot controls or directs the Garden's monster population and can awaken the Great Peng spirit. (Chapters 305–336)
• It serves as the active core of Zhou Dufu's mausoleum and responds violently when the paired key approaches, damaging stored objects when it goes berserk. (Chapters 313–315 and 528)
• Full use requires both artifacts. Separation reduces communication to broad battle commands and prevents effortless control of a sacred beast. (Chapters 305–310 and 336)
• Suppressing it requires greater cultivation and spiritual sense than Chen possesses at the time, while uncontrolled resistance can damage the entire enclosed space. Its physical core is ultimately vulnerable to the awakened sword army. (Chapters 313, 620, and 782)
