Huai Ren

Huai Ren is the senior martial grandaunt of South Stream Temple whose serene manner conceals both institutional ambition and substantial power. After helping provoke a crisis over closing the temple, she accepts atonement, later enters the Divine Domain, and fights in the northern expedition. (Chapters 877–914 and 1069–1155)

Closure, atonement, and war

Huai Ren returns to Holy Maiden Peak while Xu Yourong is in prolonged seclusion and argues that closing South Stream Temple will keep it from being consumed by worldly turmoil. She remains gentle but unwavering when Chen Changsheng objects, until Huai Bi's covert betrayal exposes how Shang Xingzhou has manipulated the temple's internal dispute; Huai Ren is struck and vomits blood but survives. She and Huai Shu resume wandering under an agreement that limits their returns, then enter the capital to atone for their role. A fierce rain over the Eastern Sea accompanies Huai Ren's breakthrough into the Divine Domain. In the northern war she kills demon experts and holds a Xuelao duke, but is heavily wounded and loses the strength to continue. (Chapters 877–914, 1069–1092, and 1125–1155)

Appearance and personality

Huai Ren wears white Daoist robes and maintains a serene, warm expression even in hostile debate. Her gentleness is genuine but does not prevent stubborn institutional decisions; after the crisis, she accepts responsibility with a restrained willingness to atone. (Chapters 878–912 and 1069)

Abilities and cultivation

Already one of South Stream Temple's two strongest senior nuns, Huai Ren later crosses into the Divine Domain during an Eastern Sea storm. She can kill multiple demon experts with a sweep of her sleeve and delay a Xuelao duke even after being wounded. Huai Bi's attempt to seal her key Qi openings briefly forces her into passivity, but she can reverse the situation, indicating exceptional internal control without fully explaining its mechanism.
