Siegfried (Ashen Hawks)

Biography

Captain of the Ashen Hawks

Siegfried is Emon City's only mithril mercenary and the captain of the highly reputed Ashen Hawks, distinct from the Argus Family Magus who shares his name. A high-ranked warrior of at least rank 15, he is hired first to protect the medium merchant groups rather than every traveler who gathers around their reputation. When ogres attack, he understands that panic can destroy the formation faster than casualties. He offers bounties to move lesser mercenaries forward and keeps his elite company in reserve, using incentives and reputation to hold together a force he does not fully command. (Chapters 859–863)

The loss of Lena

When hundreds of ogres, bloodline shamans, and a two-headed commander overwhelm the caravan, Siegfried recognizes that the formation is lost and orders survivors to scatter. He and the black-robed wizard Lena nearly escape, but shaman fireballs burn her and her horse to ash. The death breaks the calculation that previously kept him alive. Siegfried turns back, clashes with a much stronger two-headed ogre, and exhausts himself in a fight where even his fierce warhorse begins frothing and failing. Grief converts an organized retreat into a personal last stand. (Chapters 863–865)

Rescue and murder

Leylin Farlier, traveling as Ley, interrupts the final blow and carries Siegfried out by magic. The wounded captain interprets this as rescue by a powerful wizard, but Leylin immediately kills him with the Devilblood Dagger and harvests his remaining vitality. His armor, sword, and concealed map are taken as loot. The map later leads Leylin toward a hidden legacy, but Siegfried never reaches or uses that inheritance himself; knowledge of its destination should not be converted into an ability he possessed. (Chapters 865 and 879–880)

Appearance and personality

Siegfried is a battle-hardened, high-ranking fighter equipped like the captain of a first-class mercenary company. He is pragmatic, commanding, and willing to abandon expendable members when a formation collapses. His love for Lena overrides that discipline and drives his fatal return.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

High-ranked warrior cultivation

Siegfried is a rank 15-or-higher warrior who reinforces physical attacks with surging qi. His speed, endurance, and weapon control let him command from horseback and survive direct exchanges with a two-headed ogre commander. The recoil still drives him back and exhausts his mount, establishing that high-ranked technique does not erase a large gap in raw physiology. (Chapters 859–865)

Heaven Breaker

Heaven Breaker is Siegfried's named high-ranked battle technique, executed through his silver-white longsword and concentrated qi. It provides a decisive offensive burst rather than a general magical spell set. The story demonstrates it within the ogre battle but does not show that it can overcome the coordinated strength of the commander and shamans once Siegfried is surrounded and wounded. (Chapters 863–865)

Equipment and company support

Enchanted armor, the qi-bearing longsword, a trained warhorse, and the Ashen Hawks' elite members increase Siegfried's effective battlefield power. Their magical traces are equipment effects rather than an innate bloodline. Lena's wizardry and the company's formation likewise support his command but are not spells he can personally cast. The old map is information about a legacy, not access to its powers. (Chapters 859–865 and 879–880)
