Biography

Preparing the Poison Scorpion's return

Schliff brings Raike, the blood descendant of Chester Potter, before Leylin Farlier. Publicly he presents the youth as the Poison Scorpion Church's heir and future saint; privately, Raike has been raised as a vessel for his ancestor. When enemy forces close in, Schliff dons papal regalia, organises the defenders, and begins the resurrection around a sacrificial formation fed by twenty thousand souls (Chapters 1115–1118).

Failed resurrection and death

The formation and accumulated souls prove insufficient. Despite suspecting that Leylin's offered golden crystal may hide a problem, Schliff has no remaining source of power and inserts it into the ritual. The crystal contains Leylin's comprehension of massacre and divine force, forcing Chester's revival toward an immediate ascension contest. Schliff recognises the trap only after the process has escaped his control and can do nothing except pray. When Chester is dragged down by the vengeful dead, Schliff weeps over the loss and is subsequently beheaded by a legendary paladin (Chapters 1118–1121).

Appearance and personality

Schliff appears in full papal attire with a crown and sacred tome, carrying the authority of a core bishop. He is controlled enough to organise a church under siege, but absolutely fanatical about Chester's return. His calculated treatment of Raike and twenty thousand victims shows that he values the resurrection above individual lives; his tears after Chester's destruction show that this devotion is emotionally sincere rather than merely political.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Schliff is a high-ranked wizard called the Daybreak Hand, but enemy intelligence explicitly places him below the legendary realm. He is especially known for instant teleportation and portals; the supplied chapters identify that speciality without demonstrating exact range, passenger limits, or how frequently he can use it (Chapters 1115–1117).

He can direct a large sacrificial formation and coordinate church troops and worshippers. That ritual power is collective rather than a spell he supplies alone: it depends on Raike's bloodline, twenty thousand souls, the congregation, and finally Leylin's crystal. Its failure to reach the required threshold without outside power is the clearest limit on Schliff's ritual expertise (Chapters 1117–1119).
