Chester Potter
Biography
Return through blood sacrifice
Chester Potter is a fallen demigod whom Schliff and the Poison Scorpion Church revive through Raike, his blood descendant. A sacrificial formation, twenty thousand souls, concentrated worship, and Leylin Farlier's golden crystal finally draw his conscient back from the astral plane. Chester destroys Raike's body as he emerges, names himself Lord of Scorpions and Ruler of Slaughter, and immediately resumes his enmity with Helm (Chapter 1118).
When legendary attackers reach the ritual hall, Chester meets a holy sword with Meteor Strike and casts the rank 9 Extradimensional Summon, opening a portal for numerous scorpion monsters. The two legendary opponents retreat rather than fight a restored demigod directly. However, the golden crystal carries Leylin's comprehension of massacre and divine force, so Chester's resurrection is driven into an immediate and public ascension attempt (Chapters 1118–1119).
Failed ascension
Chester enters the attempt with divinity, godfire and a divine spark, and divine force, but still needs a domain, divine essence, and eventually a divine kingdom. His personal understanding of slaughter is weak and his worshippers are too few to support ascension unaided. Leylin's supplied comprehension lets him approach a slaughter domain, but also exposes him to established gods with overlapping authority (Chapters 1119–1120).
Malar attacks with a mature massacre domain while origin-force lightning tests the ascension. At the same time, the spirits sacrificed for Chester's return seize him in revenge. They pull him away from his divine spark and the forming domain; crimson lightning extinguishes his godfire and destroys his body, and the victims drag his exposed soul into the underworld. Chester's entire revived existence therefore lasts only from the ritual in Chapter 1118 through the failed ascension in Chapter 1120 (Chapter 1120).
Appearance and personality
Chester emerges as a middle-aged man with blood-red eyes, forming black robes from dark gas. His power also takes the shape of a giant malicious scorpion. He is vengeful, imperious, and eager to resume an old conflict immediately after revival. He accepts Raike's destruction and the slaughter of civilians as the price of returning, a cruelty that ultimately creates the vengeful force responsible for his second fall.
Magic, bloodline, and abilities
Chester is a demigod with slaughter divinity, godfire, a divine spark, divine force, and scorpion-associated manifestations. Meteor Strike lets him collide explosively with a legendary paladin's attack, while the rank 9 Extradimensional Summon opens a portal that releases many scorpion monsters. His demigod presence is strong enough that two legendary combatants choose to withdraw (Chapter 1118).
His ascension shows both the operation and limits of that power. Worship and law comprehension nourish the divine spark toward a domain, but Chester's own understanding is poor and his following is inadequate. Leylin's aid supplies what he lacks while forcing him into competition with existing massacre gods. Chester also has no divine kingdom capable of bearing the hatred of his sacrificial victims; demigod power alone cannot keep those spirits from dragging him down (Chapters 1119–1120).
