Loke

Loke is the identity used by an unnamed fire-elemental infiltrator inside the Atlan Union's Special Task Force. The real Emberwing Loke is already dead before this operative enters the story. Under the stolen identity, the infiltrator competes with Leylin Farlier for Schiker's confidence, gains promotion, and penetrates Scarlet Eye's underground vault before Bowens exposes and captures him.

Biography

Borrowing Loke's life

The operative appears publicly as Loke, an experienced Emberwing mercenary serving in Schiker's field exercise. His record and appearance belong to a real person whose death has been concealed, allowing the impostor to enter Union service with an established reputation. The corpus never provides his birth name, former life, or a direct scene showing how the identity was acquired. Consequently, the mercenary history attached to the original Loke cannot safely be treated as the infiltrator's own biography. (Chapters 551–564)

Rivalry with “Ley”

During the exercise, Loke presents himself as a reliable subordinate while privately treating “Ley,” Leylin's Emberwing cover, as an obstacle. He hopes Leylin will die in the fighting so that he can rescue Schiker himself and claim the resulting trust. When enemies pursue the unit, Loke activates a black steel spider that binds them for roughly five minutes, creating the opening needed for escape. He explains the construct as an inherited family treasure, a plausible story for an Emberwing whose real family background he is impersonating. (Chapters 551–553)

The successful retreat earns Loke merit and promotion to captain. That gain does not end the competition. Leylin advances from the eighth level of Fireplume and becomes increasingly important to Schiker, while Loke's public cultivation rises from the sixth to the seventh level. The difference intensifies his jealousy, yet he continues playing the dutiful colleague, welcoming Leylin back, reporting on Schiker's condition, and building access rather than attacking openly. Suspicion and assignment

Leylin connects Loke's behaviour to the hostile activity surrounding the Mobius Organisation, but this remains an investigative inference rather than a disclosed confession. Scarlet Eye possesses stronger information: he states that Loke's current appearance is a pretence, that the true Loke has died, and that the replacement belongs to another race. He allows the infiltrator to continue because a known spy can serve as bait for the larger force behind him. (Chapters 559 and 562–564)

Loke is placed in the Martial Officer Department under Bowens, giving him access close to the Union's leadership. Both men are operating under concealed loyalties, although Loke does not know the full nature of Bowens' position. His promotion and assignment appear to complete his infiltration; in practice, they channel him into a controlled route where his attempt can be observed and intercepted. (Chapter 566)

Vault breach and capture

Loke uses a replica of Gaia's Disc to open a tunnel beneath Scarlet Eye's residence. The vault's defensive formation tears apart his Emberwing disguise, exposing a roughly two-metre body of flame and rock and a peak Sky-rank aura. He continues rather than retreating, produces a point of golden flame that opens the scarlet barrier, and carries a black key intended for the inner formation. (Chapter 567)

Bowens springs the trap after Loke reaches the chamber. Flame ropes bind the infiltrator, and Bowens confiscates the key and other equipment instead of killing him, judging a captured operative more valuable than a corpse. Schiker later protects the secrecy of the counterintelligence operation by telling outsiders that Loke has departed on a special mission. Later reports describe the false Loke as bait and connect the wider assault to hostile organisations and the Divineflame delegation, but the text does not name his true employer with enough precision to assign him an unqualified faction. Appearance and personality

Loke's assumed Emberwing form is a burly man whose established mercenary identity is convincing enough to survive ordinary Special Task Force scrutiny. The disguise also reproduces an apparent Fireplume cultivation level, first the sixth and later the seventh. When the underground formation strips that cover away, his true body is revealed as a roughly two-metre fire elemental composed of flames and rock. (Chapters 551–567)

He is patient enough to perform loyalty over multiple missions and shrewd enough to convert useful equipment into a believable family story. Around superiors he is admiring, industrious, and eager for responsibility. Internally he is jealous of Leylin's advancement and imagines gaining trust from a rival's death. His decision to proceed after his disguise is damaged shows commitment to the vault objective, but he is ultimately working with incomplete information and mistakes Bowens for an ordinary obstacle rather than the keeper of a prepared trap. Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Concealed fire-elemental body

Beneath the Emberwing disguise, Loke is a fire elemental at the peak of Sky rank, comparable within the setting's cross-world scale to a peak rank 3 Magus. His natural body is made of fire and stone rather than ordinary flesh, and releasing it causes his concealed aura to rise sharply. The transformation in the vault is involuntary—the defensive formation damages his disguise—so it demonstrates what the cover suppresses rather than a freely chosen combat form with documented duration. (Chapter 567)

His public sixth- and seventh-level Fireplume readings belong to the Loke cover. The corpus does not state whether the infiltrator truly practises the Emberwing technique, imitates its aura, or uses his elemental nature to produce a compatible result. Those levels therefore describe the strength he displays to Schiker, not a confirmed innate bloodline progression. (Chapters 553 and 556)

Golden flame

The operative condenses a point of golden flame to interact with the scarlet barrier around the inner vault. The flame opens a path where ordinary entry is blocked, indicating that it is selected for compatibility or penetration rather than used as a broad explosion. The source gives no name, range, or repeated combat demonstration for the technique, and its success does not protect Loke from Bowens' binding trap immediately afterward. (Chapter 567)

Disguise and espionage

Loke's most consequential ability is sustained infiltration. He passes as a member of another race, adopts a dead officer's appearance and public history, displays plausible Fireplume growth, wins promotion, and behaves convincingly enough to operate near Schiker and Scarlet Eye. This cover has limits against specialised scrutiny: Scarlet Eye learns the truth independently, and the vault formation physically tears the disguise away. (Chapters 551–567)

His strategic information is also incomplete. Leylin suspects that the false Loke is connected to Mobius activity, while later events tie the operation to Jupiter's Lightning and a Divineflame assault, but the operative never states his command chain. The safest conclusion is that his espionage serves the hostile operation against the Union; identifying one precise employer would exceed the supplied evidence. (Chapters 559, 564, 567, and 573)

Equipment-dependent breach

The spider construct, replica of Gaia's Disc, and black key materially extend what Loke can accomplish. The spider delays pursuers, the disc opens the underground route, and the key is meant for the central formation. None is generated by his body or proven to be uniquely usable by him. Bowens confiscates them and later employs the captured tools, separating the infiltrator's innate fire abilities from the external system that makes the breach possible. (Chapters 553, 567, and 573–574)

Relationships

• Schiker: Loke's commander and the principal target of his performed loyalty. The infiltrator seeks promotion and privileged access by appearing to protect him.
• Leylin Farlier: Under the identity “Ley,” Leylin becomes Loke's rival for Schiker's confidence. Loke envies his faster advancement and hopes danger will remove him, while Leylin gradually investigates Loke's hidden allegiance.
• Bowens: The superior under whom Loke is placed in the Martial Officer Department. Bowens anticipates the breach, captures him alive, and takes the tools supplied for his mission.
• Scarlet Eye: The Atlan Union leader knows the real Loke is dead and deliberately leaves the impostor active as bait. Loke's ultimate objective is the protected chamber beneath his residence.
• The original Loke: A deceased Emberwing whose appearance, name, and mercenary history the operative steals. They are two people, not stages of one life.
