Fendix

Fendix is a rank 2 Magus who helps coordinate Twilight Zone's defense against the dark-elven invasion. He trades rare Earthen Fiend hearts to Leylin Farlier, commands Dolon City's reserves, and gains dangerous renown after killing an enemy matriarch.

Biography

Dolon's defensive council

Fendix welcomes Leylin into the emergency coalition at Dolon City and explains the function of its senior Magi. Rank 2 leaders must contain dark-elven matriarchs and high-grade darkness creatures so that ordinary troops and rank 1 Magi can hold the broader battlefield. He also participates in concealing the failing condition of Twilight Zone's rank 3 guardian, since open knowledge of that weakness could collapse morale and invite a decisive assault. His role therefore combines direct strength with management of information whose release could change the war. (Chapters 348–351)

Mobilizing the city

As the invasion intensifies, Fendix uses a secret communication imprint to call reserves, coordinate layers of the city's formations, and move high-ranked forces where they are needed. He does not remain behind the defenses: he flies into the rank 2 battlefield carrying his cane and fights alongside the other coalition leaders. The city's troops, barriers, and command network multiply his influence, but they remain shared infrastructure rather than spells generated solely by his body. (Chapters 351–358)

The matriarch and family vengeance

Fendix confronts a dark-elven matriarch associated with the death of a duke from his family. Leylin intervenes at the decisive point and helps him overcome her, then leaves public credit for the kill to Fendix. The victory satisfies a personal grievance and gives the human coalition a major symbolic success. It also changes Fendix's strategic position: Twilight Zone rewards him heavily, while the Dark Elven Empire places an enormous bounty on his life. (Chapters 357–359)

Reward, trade, and retreat

Before and after the campaign, Fendix honors a practical exchange with Leylin by supplying fifty Earthen Fiend hearts. Those ingredients become essential to Leylin's Giant Serpent's Breath research, but Fendix neither formulates nor brews the resulting potion. After the matriarch's death, the bounty makes open travel dangerously costly, and he remains within his guild headquarters rather than join later fighting in the central region. This caution preserves him; the supplied corpus gives no later death. (Chapters 359, 366, and 371)

Appearance and personality

Fendix is a middle-aged Magus who maintains a composed command presence during a desperate war. He carries a black cane capped with a diamond and communicates with the deliberateness of someone accustomed to leading a guild as well as a battlefield.

He is strategically cautious, values reputation, and wants vengeance for his family, but he is capable of fair exchange and coalition cooperation. Accepting public credit for a kill Leylin helped secure shows pragmatism about wartime morale and status. Remaining at headquarters after the bounty appears is likewise self-preservation rather than proof that he lost power. (Chapters 348–366)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Rank 2 Magus foundation

Fendix is a rank 2 Magus capable of sustained flight and of confronting matriarchs who serve as the dark elves' corresponding high-ranked pillars. Rank 2 cultivation entails solidified spiritual force and a qualitative advantage over rank 1 opponents, but the corpus does not state Fendix's exact meditation technique, elemental conversion percentage, or complete spell list. His leadership rank should therefore not be used to assign generic Twilight Zone spells he never demonstrates. (Chapters 348–359)

Lightning binding and attack

In the battle against the matriarch, Fendix manifests lightning as both restraint and offense. The electrical force binds or limits the opponent long enough for coordinated attacks and contributes to the eventual kill. Its effectiveness depends on battlefield cooperation, especially Leylin's intervention, rather than proving that Fendix can defeat an uninjured rank 2 enemy alone. The text demonstrates the element and application without naming a canonical spell or detailing a cooldown. (Chapters 357–359)

Formation command and military coordination

Fendix can use a secret imprint carried through his ring to transmit orders, mobilize reserves, and synchronize Dolon's defensive formations. He understands when senior Magi must intercept peer threats instead of spending strength on ordinary troops. These are command and formation skills exercised through the city's prepared network. The ring, towers, formations, reserves, and allied Magi are external resources under coalition control, not innate extensions of Fendix's magic. (Chapters 351 and 355–358)

Relationships

  • Leylin Farlier: Coalition ally and trading partner. Leylin helps Fendix kill the matriarch and uses the supplied Earthen Fiend hearts in later research.
  • Anya: Dark-elven commander on the opposing side of the wider war.
  • Dark-elven matriarch: Rank 2 enemy tied to the death of Fendix's relative; her defeat brings him both reward and a lethal bounty.
  • Twilight Zone coalition: The guilds, troops, and formations Fendix helps coordinate in defense of Dolon.

Items

  • Ruby communication ring: Holds the secret imprint through which Fendix receives and issues coalition commands. Its network function depends on the prepared defensive system. (Chapters 351 and 355–356)
  • Black cane: Diamond-topped magical focus carried into the rank 2 battle. The corpus does not identify a separate named property. (Chapter 357)
  • Earthen Fiend hearts: Fifty rare ingredients Fendix supplies to Leylin. They become research material for Leylin rather than a technique or potion belonging to Fendix. (Chapters 359 and 371)
