Anya

Biography

Empress of the dark elves

Anya rules the Dark Elven Empire and commands its ancient clans in a war driven by the underground world's limited food and territory. Rather than accept another indecisive campaign, she commits the Dark Elven Crown's once-in-fifty-years concealment to move soldiers, Magi, and Underground Winter Spider mounts into central Twilight Zone without their auras betraying them. The maneuver surrounds the tournament grounds while the human judges are trapped, giving her forces a chance to break the region's leadership in one strike. (Chapters 349–378)

The Wilting Domain

Anya immediately presses that advantage instead of allowing the defenders to organize. She crosses the battlefield with sudden bursts of movement, kills lesser Magi through a devouring vortex, and unfolds the Wilting Domain against the Guardian of the Realm. The other three regional Protectors feed their remaining life force into the Guardian so that his domain can oppose hers. Their suicidal combination prevents a quick dark-elven victory and leaves Anya wounded even though her forces continue to dominate the field. (Chapters 378–382)

Defeat by Leylin

Leylin Farlier advances to Rank 3 and enters the battle after both Anya and the Protectors have spent much of their strength. Facing an opponent she cannot overcome in her condition, Anya explains the material hardship behind the invasion and asks him not to exterminate her people. Leylin promises only that some dark elves will survive under human rule; after securing that concession for the race rather than herself, Anya fights and dies alongside the matriarchs who led her army. (Chapters 382–383)

Appearance and personality

Anya is a beautiful, mysterious woman with an angelic voice and the authority of an empress. She is strategic, proud, and ruthless, but her final concern is the survival of her people rather than her own life.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Rank 3 life-force magic

Anya's direct attacks revolve around extracting vitality. A green vortex in her hand exerts a spirit-drawing pull, while the much larger vortex behind her can reduce an ordinary Magus to a dried corpse almost immediately. She can also disappear from one position and reappear within striking distance, letting her deliver that devouring force at close range. These techniques are formidable against lesser opponents, but the combined life force of four regional Protectors can resist and injure her. (Chapter 378)

Wilting Domain

Her false domain spreads a dark-grey field over the battlefield. Plants and animals inside it lose their lives and crumble to ash; hostile Magi age as their vitality drains away. The same field emits grey light from allied Underground Winter Spider knights and makes them fight more fiercely, so it functions as both attrition against enemies and reinforcement for her army. It is not an invincible true domain: another domain can collide with it, distort the surrounding space, and force Anya into a costly contest of reserves. (Chapter 379)

Command and external resources

Anya coordinates matriarchs, dark-elven Magi, and mounted spider knights with commands that carry across the formation. That military reach is political and organizational power, not a personal summoning ability. Likewise, the army-wide concealment that enables her invasion comes from the Dark Elven Crown, whose fifty-year recovery period prevents routine use; it should not be treated as part of her innate spell repertoire. (Chapter 378)
