Biography

Academy prodigy

Fayle is a highly regarded Abyssal Bone Forest acolyte who reaches level 2 within six months. Bicky admires him and eventually becomes his girlfriend. Fayle cultivates that devotion for material gain: he protects Bicky during the academy bloodbath, accepts the crystals and resources she sends him, and then persuades her to steal her family's Rainbow Potion by presenting it as necessary for his advancement. The Purple-Gold Flower Family recruits him with advancement knowledge and a rank 1 defensive spell model, allowing him to become an official Magus before thirty. He then abandons Bicky and assumes her family has killed her for the theft (Chapters 23–128).

Curse death

Proud of his new rank, Fayle lives in a tower supplied by his patrons and assumes that Bicky has already died for helping him. Leylin Farlier uses Fayle as the first target of a curse from the Book of Giant Serpent. A spectral butcher traps him in an illusion, kills him with a hook, and dissects his corpse (Chapters 128–129).

Appearance and personality

Fayle matures into a charismatic young man surrounded by admirers. He is talented and industrious but vain, predatory, self-important, and willing to manipulate affection for resources.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

• Rapid cultivation: Fayle reaches level 2 within six months of entering the academy, later becomes a level 3 acolyte, and advances to rank 1 before the age of thirty. His advancement depends in part on Bicky's stolen Rainbow Potion and the Purple-Gold Flower Family's knowledge, so those resources are not innate abilities.
• Innate defensive spell: A fluid, transparent water shield forms around him when the curse's manifestation attacks. It withstands several blows from the butcher's hook before its energy nears exhaustion (Chapters 128–129).
• Frost spikes: He launches multiple ice projectiles, but they pass through the curse manifestation without stopping it (Chapter 129).
• Sword control: He can make a silver short sword appear and fly at an enemy. This is an equipment-assisted attack rather than a separate innate spell (Chapter 129).

Relationships

• Bicky: His girlfriend and victim, exploited for her family's Rainbow Potion.
• Leylin Farlier: Bicky's friend and the caster of the curse that kills him.
• Purple-Gold Flower Family: His patrons after he abandons Bicky.

Items

• Rainbow Potion: A Tyler family treasure that Bicky steals at Fayle's request. Fayle uses it in his advancement preparations, but it is a consumed resource obtained through manipulation rather than an ability of his own (Chapters 126–128).
• Rank 1 defensive spell model: Supplied by the Purple-Gold Flower Family as part of its recruitment contract. The text does not identify it with the water shield he later displays (Chapter 128).
• Silver short sword: His weapon during the curse manifestation; it passes harmlessly through the illusory butcher (Chapter 129).
