Eugene
Biography
Hunt for the Kemoyin Emperor
Eugene is one of three Radiant Moon Magi sent into Twilight Zone to eliminate Leylin Farlier for the Blazing Flame Monarch's organisation. He treats Warlock bodies as material for his collection and boasts that he could handle two opponents at Stuart's level, although he admits he could defeat rather than certainly kill such a Radiant Moon. Even after his leader warns that Leylin has already killed a higher-ranked enemy, Eugene expects three Radiant Moons to overwhelm what their intelligence still describes as a Morning Star. (Chapters 619–620, 627)
Carol's soul curse fails because Leylin has already advanced to Radiant Moon, but Eugene argues that a newly advanced opponent remains manageable if the three hunters combine their strength. When Leylin arrives, the pressure of the Kemoyin Serpent Emperor bloodline immediately shakes that confidence. Eugene dismisses the prophecy about a rank 5 serpent emperor until Leylin's power makes its fulfilment visible. (Chapters 624–625)
The hunters answer with a three-souls-in-one formation. Eugene and Carol occupy two corners behind their Full Moon leader, merging their truesoul force into a single attack that initially suppresses Leylin's New Moon truesoul and weakens his domain. Leylin's regeneration lets him trade injuries until he breaks into the formation and removes Carol, collapsing their numerical advantage. (Chapter 625)
Death in the astral void
Eugene and the surviving leader pull Leylin into a spatial crack, where the Warlock transforms into a true rank 5 Kemoyin Serpent Emperor. The two hunters each release a rank 5 Arcane Art—Seal of the Abyss and Spatial Grave are cast in sequence—but the chapter does not unambiguously assign one named art to Eugene. Both attacks injure Leylin only briefly because he devours the spatial storm and converts it into recovery. (Chapter 626)
When escape becomes the only option, the stronger leader breaks free and abandons Eugene. Eugene's remaining life force disappears inside the transformed serpent's attack. The astral plane then takes his intact corpse, around which ash-brown rock gathers to form a barren island. Later references confirm that Eugene and Carol are dead, leaving the Blazing Flame Monarch without their defence. (Chapters 626–627, 652–653)
Appearance and personality
The supplied chapters identify Eugene as a male Magus but do not give a stable physical portrait. He is bloodthirsty enough to covet Leylin's skin as decoration, impatient with indirect soul attacks, and dismissive of poorer regions and supposedly weaker opponents. His arrogance is not complete ignorance—he recognises the oppressive difference once Leylin appears—but that recognition comes too late to change the mission. (Chapters 619–625)
Magic, bloodline, and abilities
Radiant Moon truesoul
Eugene is a rank 5 Radiant Moon Magus, specifically one of the two peak New Moons accompanying a Full Moon leader. His mature truesoul gives him power far beyond Morning Star, but it is still vulnerable to a superior rank 5 bloodline ruler. The story does not name his meditation technique, elemental affinity, or bloodline. (Chapters 619, 625–626)
Three-souls-in-one formation
The triangular formation merges Eugene's, Carol's, and their leader's truesoul force. With a Full Moon at its head, it suppresses Leylin's peak New Moon soul and lets the group form soul blades capable of repeatedly opening major wounds. It depends on all three positions and coordinated soul force; once Leylin seizes Carol, the formation is broken. (Chapter 625)
Rank 5 Arcane Arts and spatial combat
Eugene can survive entry into a spatial crack, fight amid spatial turbulence, and push five innate spells together through soul force to release a rank 5 Arcane Art. Seal of the Abyss and Spatial Grave are the two arts used by Eugene and his leader, but the narration does not clearly map either name to one caster. Their combined offence can strip scales and wound Leylin, yet it cannot overcome his ability to devour the resulting spatial storm and heal. (Chapter 626)
Relationships
- Blazing Flame Monarch: The ruler behind Eugene's organisation and the extermination mission against rising Warlocks. (Chapters 619, 627)
- Carol: A fellow Radiant Moon hunter whose tracking and dream curse locate and attack Leylin. Eugene fights beside her in the truesoul formation. (Chapters 620, 624–626)
- Unnamed Full Moon leader: Eugene obeys him reluctantly and joins his formation, only to be abandoned when the leader escapes the final battle. (Chapters 619–626)
- Leylin Farlier: The intended victim whose unexpected advancement exposes Eugene's misjudgement and ends his life. (Chapters 619–626)
Items
No personal artifact or consumable is assigned to Eugene in the supplied chapters. The tracking crystal belongs to Carol, and the named Arcane Arts are spell combinations rather than equipment. (Chapters 620, 625–626)
