Biography

Crowley first approaches Xavier and Jill in Thousand Bears City while presenting himself as a friendly twenty-five-year-old with useful local connections. He later works as staff for the Rapid Shadow licensing examination, where computers and Shadow Weave authentication supposedly prevent favoritism. Beneath that ordinary role he is one of the Bloodline Alliance's five strongest experts, watching a younger descendant whose inherited serpent power has not yet fully awakened. (Chapters 1070, 1076–1079)

He deliberately allows Xavier to fail rather than expose unusual strength to the empire and grows suspicious of “Ley,” whose abilities do not fit any known bloodline record. When Special Forces abduct Jill, Crowley reveals the Bloodline Alliance and explains that the empire kills adult carriers while brainwashing selected children into its own units. He recruits Xavier for a rescue not only as a comrade but as a distant ancestor trying to preserve his line. (Chapters 1078–1084)

Bloodline Alliance and the eastern-seas disaster

At the Special Forces base Crowley confronts Wolf Fang, an imperial bloodline carrier implicated in the deaths of their kin. Their matching serpent phantoms show a common inheritance, but ideology separates them: Crowley accepts criminal status to resist, while Wolf Fang believes the empire's hidden backing makes resistance hopeless. Xavier's awakening changes the battle and signals that the entire bloodline is becoming stronger. (Chapters 1083–1086)

Crowley then joins the Coven of Witches, Knights of the Round Table, and Martial Arts Association to investigate Project X and the Tree of Life. They discover plans to alter bodies with a controllable gene and bind minds directly to the Shadow Weave, potentially turning the population into a single obedient army. The expedition is ambushed by imperial forces; Maya, Steel Man, and Tian Can fall, while Crowley unseals his serpent tattoo and escapes the purge. (Chapters 1087–1092)

Representative of the Snake Dowager

Crowley clears remaining Special Forces personnel, evacuates captives and bloodline carriers, and stays behind to reunite with Xavier. When the Snake Dowager appears as the origin of their serpent line, Crowley obeys her instinctively. She makes him her representative, transforms his body and spirit to peak Rank 6, and grants temporary authority that pushes his output to half-step Rank 7. The blessing also compels lower descendants to recognize him through their blood. (Chapters 1093–1098)

This borrowed elevation gives Crowley enough force to unify rebel organizations and lead the march on the imperial palace. His speech is not especially persuasive, but the empire's activation of Project X supplies the cause: most ordinary soldiers collapse while extraordinary bloodline and magical protection preserve more of the rebel core. Crowley uses serpentine constructs, corrosive force, and a devouring black-hole attack to tear through robots and palace defenses. (Chapters 1098–1101)

Life force against the Tree of Life

The Tree of Life begins extracting souls through the Shadow Weave, making simple retreat or abandonment of Rapid Shadows ineffective. Crowley attacks its defenses and later regenerates from severe injury, but the final seal requires a greater price. He releases the last restraint on the serpent phantom and pours black blood and life force into it, generating another black hole that destroys branches and saves trapped rebels. (Chapters 1101–1103)

Close to collapse, Crowley chooses to hold back the Tree while Xavier attacks the twelve controlling pearls. Crowley would be more likely to break the pearls himself, but Xavier cannot survive in his defensive role; their allocation is strategic rather than symbolic. His last confirmed position is among the survivors concentrating their remaining strength into the opening on which Xavier's attempt depends. (Chapters 1103–1104)

Appearance and personality

Crowley has prominent sideburns and initially claims to be twenty-five, looking old enough that Jill calls him “Mister.” He later admits to more than five hundred years of life, making the youthful claim part joke, part concealment. His torso is heavily scarred and bears the sealed serpent tattoo.

He is friendly, self-deprecating, and not naturally charismatic, but becomes solemn when lives depend on him. Crowley protects descendants and captives, accepts that his work may never be recognized, and repeatedly places himself where stronger fighters are needed rather than preserving his status as a resistance leader.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Serpent bloodline and sealed phantom

Crowley descends from the Snake Dowager and manifests a giant black serpent through bloodline force. In ordinary combat he emits an explosive pressure, produces fine black mist that contests another expert's force field, and reinforces punches with an ancient-snake phantom. The awakened tattoo on his back releases deeper reserves, but each seal represents power deliberately withheld rather than a free transformation. (Chapters 1083–1090)

Bloodline strength depends on purity and proximity to the origin. The Snake Dowager can command Crowley instinctively and suppress lower descendants with a trace of aura; without extracting and becoming independent of the source, he cannot resist that hierarchy. The same connection lets her amplify him far beyond Shadow World's technological “energy limit.” (Chapters 1093–1098)

Peak Rank 6 body and half-step Rank 7 authority

The Snake Dowager remodels Crowley's body and spirit to peak Rank 6, then grants temporary authority that lets his bloodline power cross the bottleneck into half-step Rank 7 output. This makes him the empire's strongest active rebel and allows him to dominate lower carriers through ancestral pressure. The half-step state is borrowed: it depends on her authority and does not establish Crowley as an independent being of laws. (Chapter 1098)

Chimeral serpent, corrosion, and devouring force

At his enhanced state Crowley condenses hundreds of phantom snakes into a massive chimera able to smash robots and collapse palace structures. Its corrosive fluid destroys both machines and fortifications. Through prayer to the Snake Dowager he combines energy spheres into a black-hole-like attack that devours robots, force fields, and buildings to open a passage. These effects draw on granted bloodline authority rather than ordinary Shadow Weave equipment. (Chapters 1101–1103)

The final unsealing consumes Crowley's own life force. Black blood feeds the increasingly illusory serpent, generating enough destructive force to clear the Tree of Life's branches but leaving him close to collapse. Regeneration lets him return from earlier wounds, yet the life-force sacrifice and the Tree's soul extraction remain genuine limits; he cannot simply repeat maximum attacks without cost. Resistance operations

Crowley is a licensed Rapid Shadow examiner, covert recruiter, investigator, and one of the Bloodline Alliance's top five fighters. He plans rescues, evacuates prisoners, coordinates with three other underground traditions, and organizes a mixed army against the palace. Rapid Shadow devices and firearms support these operations, but top-level bloodline combat is too fast for wristwatch spells unless they can be cast instantly. (Chapters 1076–1100)
