Bodach

Bodach is a rank 7 one-eyed dragon whom Leylin Farlier encounters in Dreamscape. A theft from the Lord of Calamity Salilus leaves him covered by a tracking curse, making the boastful astral traveler dependent on Leylin's help and useful as a guide.

Biography

A contract offered for future profit

Bodach first presents his truename and offers a contract promising that he will aid Leylin or Leylin's bloodline in return for equal payment. The generosity is calculated: he expects future summoners to value the service of a being of laws enough to meet his price. His formal name and contract create a durable channel across worlds without making him a subordinate or giving away unrestricted power. (Chapter 1048)

Theft and the eyes of calamity

The dragon has stolen suolo gems from Salilus and been marked by a curse that produces proliferating purple eyes across his body. The eyes both torment him and let the Lord of Calamity track his location. Bodach asks Leylin for treatment, and Leylin agrees only after imposing strict terms. A silver head hoop and Leylin's techniques suppress the curse's signaling temporarily, buying movement rather than curing the underlying law. Bodach's predicament is self-created, and his fear reflects accurate knowledge of the rank 8 being pursuing him. (Chapter 1049)

Guide through Dreamscape

Bodach guides Leylin through underground routes and across territories shaped by sealed Lords of Calamity. His experience across many worlds and ability to track spiritual scent help the pair find Cabadole's tribe and examine Gillian, whose sleep carries the trace of a dream demon. Bodach complains about Dreamscape's native inhabitants and repeatedly measures danger against his own survival, but obeys because Leylin is the only companion capable of suppressing the curse and confronting what follows it. (Chapters 1050–1059)

Salilus's attack and the price of survival

When Salilus reaches them, Bodach is devastated by powers of calamity and decay. His body is shattered far enough to expose internal organs, yet rank 7 vitality begins repairing the damage even before Leylin removes the hostile laws. Leylin kills Salilus and completes the cure, an outcome Bodach considers nearly impossible. In return, Bodach pledges secrecy and three favors represented by a draconic ring. He does not become Leylin's permanent servant; the agreement preserves the dignity and independence of a being of laws while repaying a life-saving debt. (Chapters 1060–1063)

Appearance and personality

Bodach's natural form is a tremendous one-eyed dragon. He can shrink into a middle-aged human shape with long purple hair, but retains a single yellow vertical eye threaded with red vessels.

He is boastful, greedy, talkative, and often comic in his complaints, yet his fear around Salilus and other Lords of Calamity is grounded in long experience. Bodach has traveled through fifty-seven worlds and hundreds of dimensions, giving him practical knowledge even when pride makes him dismiss native people. He bargains hard, obeys stronger contractual pressure, and ultimately repays Leylin without pretending to welcome subordination. (Chapters 1048–1063)

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Rank 7 one-eyed dragon body

Bodach is a rank 7 being of laws with enormous physical scale, vitality, and regenerative capacity. Even after his body is shattered and his organs exposed, critical areas begin mending while he remains conscious. Hostile laws of calamity and decay slow that recovery, showing that regeneration is powerful rather than absolute. The corpus does not identify Bodach's personal law or a named breath weapon, so neither should be invented from his draconic species. (Chapters 1048 and 1062)

Spiritual scent and astral experience

His single eye and dragon senses can follow spiritual traces through Dreamscape and recognize the presence left by a dream demon. He combines that perception with experience of underground routes, world travel, and high-ranked threats. Tracking gives direction rather than complete knowledge: Bodach can locate a scent and identify danger but relies on Leylin to analyze Gillian's condition and defeat Salilus. (Chapters 1050–1059)

Transformation and truename contract

Bodach can compress his dragon body into a one-eyed human form suitable for travel and negotiation. His truename supports a cross-world summoning agreement under which a caller may request aid for equal payment. After his cure, he issues a separate pledge of three favors. These contracts grant defined access to his future help, not ownership of Bodach or automatic use of all his rank 7 power. Price, wording, and the number of favors constrain what a beneficiary can demand. (Chapters 1048 and 1063)

Curse limits and external treatment

The purple-eye curse, silver head hoop, and final cleansing are not Bodach's own techniques. Salilus imposes the curse; Leylin supplies the hoop and suppression, later removing calamity and decay from Bodach's body. The suolo gems trigger the conflict but do not grant him a demonstrated combat enhancement. Keeping those resources separate explains why a rank 7 dragon can still be helpless against a rank 8 Lord's tracking law. (Chapters 1049–1062)
