Biography

Mixed blood in the Trial's Eye

Belinda is a mixed-blood Alabaster Devilsnake and peak Rank 3 Sacrificer serving the Trial's Eye. She leads operations around Port Elias while enduring suspicion from higher-ranked pure-bloods and from Bayclark, the Rank 5 Sacrificer sent over her. When Leylin Farlier, disguised as the serpent “Nick,” appears weaker and unaffiliated, Belinda vouches for him rather than surrendering him to institutional pressure. (Chapters 712–715)

The assault on Port Elias fails after Leylin secretly turns Dreamscape power against both sides and captures Bayclark. Belinda regains enough control to withdraw surviving troops, but headquarters rewrites the disaster as her collusion with the enemy and places her under arrest. She initially submits because she trusts the principle of order she served. When her sacrificial eye rune cracks and the Trial's Eye refuses her offering, she discovers that equal exchange does not return what a discarded follower has already paid. (Chapters 716–722)

Dreamscape road and family revenge

After escaping with Nick, Belinda identifies herself more fully as a Rank 4 beast spirit master and now-useless Rank 3 Sacrificer. She guides the group toward the Holy City by summoning a Dreamscape Forest that only Alabaster Devilsnake blood and a specialized opening ceremony can reveal. The route compresses enormous distance but exposes them to unpredictable Nightmare Creatures and fluctuating dreamforce. Belinda shares the family incantations with Nick because she treats him as a companion rather than guarding every inherited advantage. (Chapters 723–727)

Belinda then entrusts Sophia to Nick and returns to settle the violence inside her birth family. Her father seeks pure-blood status through forced breeding, refinement, and the ancient bloodline mirror; he killed or converted Belinda's mother into a beast spirit and threatens Sophia with the same abuse. Free from the Trial's Eye's prohibition on personal vengeance, Belinda steals the mirror, incites family members already angered by his methods, and confronts him despite the gap between her strength and his Rank 5 purity. (Chapters 728–734)

Her mother's Rank 4 beast spirit emerges automatically to protect her, retaining affection and fragments of memory. Leylin intervenes in the wider conflict, and Belinda leaves with Sophia rather than inherit her father's methods. She continues through the Serpent Plains, where Alabaster blood deters most rational serpents, and relies on Aegnis's Stewart connections to enter the Holy City legally. (Chapters 730–741)

The Holy Light Crystal and Calamity of Gluttony

Believing Nick's curse requires life-force materials, Belinda repeatedly completes missions and secretly supplies him. She refuses to ask Aegnis for a Holy Light Crystal because she will not exchange dignity for dependence, accepting a Rank 5-danger mission at Crescent Lake instead. The crystal cannot actually solve Leylin's problem, but Belinda does not know that; her choice is a genuine attempt to preserve the person she trusts. (Chapters 747–750)

Belinda uses Dreamforce spell Hollow to conceal herself and pass sleeping gluttonous beasts. Dreamscape's silent phase has weakened her inherited power, and an evolving beast wakes in a starvation frenzy before she can escape. Leylin's protection amulet summons a Primordial Ent strong enough to delay the Rank 5 creature, allowing her to return with the crystal. The success depends on stealth, timing, and borrowed protection rather than Belinda overpowering the target. (Chapters 750–752)

At the Holy City's final defense Belinda supports Aegnis, urges her to flee, and prays to the Snake Dowager while gluttony infection spreads inside the Stewart Family. Leylin's plan culminates before the defenders can resolve the calamity themselves. (Chapters 753–760)

Leylin's identity and a new world

Leylin reveals that Nick was an alias and that he is the fugitive who used Belinda and the Stewart Family to enter the city. He suppresses her bloodline, elemental affinity, and Sacrificer power and removes her to the Magus World despite her anger. Foreign-world laws reduce her below Morning Star output, making clear that her prior Rank 4 equivalence cannot be transferred unchanged. (Chapters 760–761)

Belinda and Aegnis become overseers of Leylin's subterranean trade organization, choosing personnel and managing the passage between regions. Her Alabaster Devilsnake blood later contributes to the independent serpent origin Leylin develops around his Targaryen line. This offers descendants a route outside the Snake Dowager's direct origin control, although the corpus does not record a new personal rank breakthrough for Belinda. (Chapters 762–766, 777–787)

Appearance and personality

Belinda has scarlet pupils and the fine white scales of an Alabaster Devilsnake, with claws and serpent traits becoming more pronounced when bloodline power is active. She carries herself as an experienced traveler and commander rather than a sheltered noble.

She is intelligent, proud, and capable of long planning. Institutional betrayal makes her skeptical of declared order, but not incapable of trust. Her protectiveness toward Sophia, attachment to her mother's spirit, and willingness to risk herself for Nick show a tenderness that survives discrimination and family abuse.

Magic, bloodline, and abilities

Mixed Alabaster Devilsnake bloodline

Belinda's bloodline grants white scales, claws, increased vitality and defense, scarlet serpent eyes, and an affinity for dreamforce. It can pressure ordinary serpents and lets her pass through Serpent Plains communities that would attack unrelated species. As a mixed blood she inherits a weakened Dreamscape connection rather than the full ability of a pure-blooded Alabaster Devilsnake to move freely between Dreamscape and the outside world. (Chapters 715–735)

The bloodline's theoretical potential exceeds Belinda's current state, but purity matters. Her Rank 5 father can overwhelm her directly, and the Snake Dowager retains origin-level control over descendant lines. No independent law or Rank 5 breakthrough is recorded for Belinda. (Chapters 729–734, 760–766)

Dreamforce and Dreamscape passage

Belinda can communicate with Dreamscape, draw dreamforce into spells, and use a bloodline ceremony to reveal the Dreamscape Forest as a travel route. Hollow wraps her in a dreamforce veil and conceals her from gluttonous beasts while she steals the Holy Light Crystal. Dreamscape can distort time and distance, making the route dramatically faster than ordinary travel. (Chapters 725–727, 750–751)

Dreamforce is cyclic and unreliable. During Dreamscape's silent phase its intensity falls several times below normal, bloodline spells weaken, and previous agreements with Nightmare Creatures may no longer protect travelers. The route also requires specific blood, incantations, runes, and known pathways; it is not universal teleportation. (Chapters 725–727, 750–751)

Peak Rank 3 Sacrificer

Belinda reaches peak Rank 3 as a Sacrificer of the Trial's Eye. Sacrificial formations exchange offerings for Trialforce and institutional power, but the patron may refuse future transactions without returning prior sacrifices. Once the eye rune cracks and the Trial's Eye abandons her, this entire power channel becomes unusable even though the experience and rank history remain. (Chapters 712–723)

She does not demonstrate an independent Rank 4 Sacrificer breakthrough. Her later Morning Star-equivalent versatility comes from beast-spirit mastery and bloodline power, which must remain distinct from the severed Trial's Eye contract.

Rank 4 beast spirit mastery

Belinda is a Rank 4 beast spirit master capable of carrying, summoning, and evaluating spirits. Beast spirits retain soul condition and sometimes memories; damaged spirits grow dull, and injuries to their souls can worsen beyond ordinary healing. Her most important spirit is her mother, who automatically manifests to protect Belinda and preserves emotional recognition after death. (Chapters 714–715, 723, 730–734)

The master's rank does not make every spirit Rank 4 or guarantee control over a stronger one. Spirit-seal formations and compatibility determine obedience, while forceful sealing can damage will or harmony. Belinda's family knowledge provides high-quality Rank 4 methods, but Rank 5 spirit control remains a separate and tightly restricted field. (Chapters 723, 730–734)

Holy Light Crystal mission and borrowed protection

Belinda's successful Crescent Lake infiltration combines Hollow, a surveillance eye, the favorable sleep of evolving beasts, and Leylin's protection amulet. The amulet summons a Primordial Ent to bind the awakened Rank 5 beast long enough for escape. Neither the Ent nor its law-like vines are Belinda's innate power, and the Holy Light Crystal is an acquired objective delivered to Nick rather than a permanent personal amplifier. (Chapters 748–752)

Belinda uses Sacrificer implements and a black battle sword during her dangerous missions. Her Holy Light Crystal quest is undertaken for “Nick,” making the crystal an objective rather than a lasting personal possession.
