Sa Myeonghun

Sa Myeonghun is Pitch Black's Second Field Commander and the eldest young master of the Saming Great Family, a strategist who tries to destroy Jaehwan's expedition through force and engineered betrayal.

Biography

The strategist's last disruption

Sa Myeonghun intercepts the Abyss Expedition as the Black Shadow Strategist and intends to use its survivors as sacrifices. Confident in both his sword and his planning, he confronts Jaehwan but is catastrophically injured when the Catastrophe descends: one eye is ruptured and half of his right leg is destroyed. With his remaining strength, Sa Myeonghun distributes fragments of the battlefield barrier and activates the transcendent-grade 「Disruption」. Because the Skill requires a trigger, he uses the barrier's recorded images to incite the expedition against Jaehwan. The manipulation fails to secure victory; his soul scatters after one final laugh, ending his attempt to turn collective fear into mutiny. (Chapters 86, 92–98)

Appearance and personality

Sa Myeonghun is handsome, with fine features and dark, fathomless eyes. Calculating, aristocratic, and cruel, he treats frightened survivors as usable material and continues scheming after receiving mortal wounds. His final laughter shows pride in having created disorder even when he can no longer escape. (Chapters 86, 92, and 97–98)

Powers and limitations

Sa Myeonghun possesses strong swordsmanship and Spiritual Pressure appropriate to a Field Commander. His defining Skill, 「Disruption」, can destabilize a group but cannot simply command it: it needs an inciting catalyst, which he supplies through selected barrier footage. Severe bodily damage sharply reduces his direct fighting ability, while the Skill's dependence on existing fear and interpretation allows its intended result to fail. (Chapters 92–98)
