Biography

Guardian of the System

Sa Myeonggaram enters Chaos as the First War Commander in the force defending the Palace of Rebirth. A veteran credited with extraordinary victories in the Eastern War, he overwhelms Jaehwan's companions before catching Jaehwan's Unique World with his bare hand. His explanation that Adaptation draws upon the System as its own world forces Jaehwan to question the supposed opposition between Adapter and Awakened One, while Black Flames turns that belief into physical force. His rigidity conceals an earlier doubt. Nine hundred years before, Sa Myeonggaram listened to Mulack Armelt's proposal, fought him for three days, and honestly reported that an Awakened One could challenge the Phantasmal Tree; Pitch Black punished that conclusion with a century of Dormancy. Seeing the same possibility in Jaehwan makes him ignore his capture orders and push the Awakened One toward Creation, although his love of the System still compels him to oppose a world born to destroy other worlds. Jaehwan uses the battle to understand that Awakening and Adaptation are separated by only a thin distinction: one creates a personal world, while the other borrows the already existing System. Remembering the Lord later makes Jaehwan question whether devotion to any world can become slavery, and identifies Sa Myeonggaram as the opponent who enabled both Creation and the next stage of his path. Jaehwan invokes Sa Myeonggaram's name when dealing with the Driver Gainak and follows the warning about Maiad into the late Abyss conflict. Sa Myeonggaram is described chiefly through an indifferent gaze and the immense pressure it carries. During Demigodification, black fire covers one side of his body from right temple to right ankle. He is rigid, pure, and almost painfully sincere. Sa Myeonggaram worships the System without opportunism, reports Mulack's case honestly despite the political cost, and spends centuries trying to suppress the regret it leaves him.
