Rene

Rene is the broadcasting identity used by Minerva, the God of Fate, during her ascent of 〈Metaverse〉. Posing as an ordinary repeat challenger, she turns Jaehwan into the subject of a popular stream, helps organize his Metaverse allies, and secretly places Fate's Protection on him while pursuing her own plan to become the tower's Driver.

Biography

The Metaverse and Its Gods to War on the Metaverse Floors

Rene meets Jaehwan while beginning her tenth Metaverse attempt, presenting herself as a soft-brown-haired, lightly armored streamer whose clumsy attention to every viewer keeps a modest channel loyal. She immediately adopts him as content for a “beginner rescue” broadcast, warns him about stronger passenger groups, and later intervenes against Vertus when Jaehwan's unmeasurable power disrupts the First Floor. Her broadcast grows from a small channel into the principal view through which tens of thousands of gods follow Jaehwan's climb. Although she already suspects that he is no novice, she keeps the accessible Rene persona and turns his resistance to the tower into a public event. (Chapters 109–115, 119, and 123–129)

Rene eventually organizes an Ally group with gods such as Rayray, Gale, and Pilgrim and brings them into the conflict around the Six Gods and the Driver candidacy. She awakens trapped gods, urges rescues when passengers are endangered, and continues broadcasting even when the stream exposes the Alliance's manipulation. During the vote she finishes third behind Jaehwan and the leading candidate, then helps the surviving factions exchange healing Parts and prepare for the coming war. Her original plan had been to reach the Driver's position herself, but the climb increasingly makes her an organizer and witness to Jaehwan's attempt to liberate the tower instead. War on the Metaverse Floors to Ancient Gods and the Grand Auction

Rene fights beside Jaehwan's coalition as the war crosses the upper floors. She cuts down a Lord, passes through the Doors to the Ninth Floor, and suffers the same violent physical reaction as other gods when the tower's concealed reality overwhelms them. At the final floor, the Driver addresses her as the God of Fate. Rene uses her wish to obtain the method for building the Anonymous System used by another Metaverse branch, showing that her interest in the tower was institutional rather than merely competitive: she wanted a tool that could preserve anonymous communication beyond this one collapsing structure. After the Metaverse falls, Rene reveals that her true name is Minerva and admits that she intended to use Jaehwan so she could become the Driver. Her motive was a forecast that the Abyss would be destroyed if the Metaverse collapsed and a belief that its corrupt gods and exploited Followers could no longer reform themselves. Yet her experience with the rescued Followers changes what she does with that knowledge. She accepts that destruction may take more than one form, leaves Fate's Protection on Jaehwan, and departs with Martis to investigate other Metaverse branches and keep struggling for their inhabitants. Appearance and personality

As Rene, Minerva appears as a woman with soft brown hair, light leather armor, and later a black combat suit. She is cheerful, theatrical, and deliberately approachable on camera, frequently reacting to viewer messages and framing dangerous events as broadcast material. Her awkwardness is convincing enough to make her seem less capable than she is, though her calm command during emergencies and knowledge of the tower repeatedly expose the disguise. The Minerva beneath that persona is more pessimistic and calculating. She reads a future in which the Abyss is destroyed, tries to seize the Driver's authority, and protects Jaehwan partly as a gamble on how that destruction will unfold. Nevertheless, Rene's warmth is not wholly performed. She saves other climbers, forms real friendships, and chooses to travel with freed Followers after losing the position she sought. Her farewell remains as bright as her broadcasts even while she expects the world to end. (Chapters 111, 147–150, and 176–177)

Powers and limitations

Divine World Power and combat

Rene is a high-grade god rather than the ordinary Metaverse passenger she pretends to be. She can fight Lords directly, organize allied gods, and continue ascending after the Six Gods conflict. The corpus shows her beheading a Lord and surviving battles that overwhelm lesser passengers, but it does not name a personal offensive Setting or provide a complete combat system. Her comparatively modest performance inside the tower is partly explained by the large amount of World Power already invested in protecting Jaehwan. (Chapters 138–147, 159–166, and 176–177)

Fate reading and Fate's Protection

As Minerva, Rene can hear or read Fates ranging from individual outcomes to a Great Fate concerning the Abyss's destruction. The forecast gives an activation condition—the collapse of the Metaverse—but not one unavoidable mechanism, leaving room for different forms of destruction. Her Fate's Protection is a concealed Setting placed on Jaehwan from the First Floor. It helps him survive wounds and falls that should have killed him, is difficult to detect even with Doubt, and consumes considerable World Power. Minerva explicitly warns that it will not protect him from the Seven Divine Thrones or Twelve Great Lords. (Chapters 165 and 176–177)

Broadcasting and the Anonymous System

Rene operates relay drones and a live channel that carries events to gods across the Abyss. The stream attracts support and trust, turns Jaehwan's actions into public knowledge, and helps coordinate allies, but damaged drones can interrupt her direct footage and let others seize control of the broadcast. Her Driver wish grants knowledge for constructing the Seventh Floor's Anonymous System, not control of the entire floor or of Metaverse itself. The corpus does not show Rene deploying that system before she leaves, so its later application remains unstated. (Chapters 109, 119, 123–129, 168, 171, and 173)

Relationships

• Jaehwan: Rene first treats him as compelling broadcast material and a tool in her bid to become Driver. She later fights beside him, protects him through Fate's Protection, and accepts his destruction of the Metaverse as the beginning of a future she must still work to shape.
• Rayray: Rayray is one of Rene's closest allied gods during the climb. He supports her broadcasts, joins her group, and fights alongside her through the Driver contest.
• Martis: Martis joins Rene's Metaverse alliance and later chooses to travel with her. Together they intend to investigate other branches and help the people still trapped inside them.
• Runald: Rene helps shepherd Runald through the tower and treats him as part of the beginner group around Jaehwan. Their shared climb exposes him to her true divine identity at the final floor.

Items

• Relay drones: Rene's principal broadcasting equipment. They transmit her channel throughout the Abyss but can be damaged, disabled, or replaced by another broadcaster's feed.
• Anonymous System design: Information granted as Rene's final-floor wish. It is the method behind anonymous communication on a Metaverse Seventh Floor, not ownership of the floor itself.
