Ignel

Ignel of the Deep Dusk is a Dream Demon Creator ranked among the finest Master Craftsmen of the age. Ignel founded the Twilight Dusk workshop, created the numbered God's Collection, and eventually attained the rank of Master before being placed within 〈Panopticon〉.

Biography

Twilight Dusk and the God's Collection

Long before meeting Jaehwan, Ignel creates 〈Twilight Dusk〉, one of the greatest weapons workshops in 《Chaos》, and trains the human craftsman Meikal. Ignel later operates a crowded Abyss forge and produces the God's Collection, a signature series intended to challenge the Ancient Three Gods' artifacts. The first two models go to Ignis and Chronos, while the third, Coexistence, is commissioned for Maiad van Declan. Ignel insists that great artifacts owe part of their fame to great wielders, rejecting the idea that the weapon alone creates its legend. (Chapters 21 and 179–180)

When Jaehwan brings the damaged scabbard made by Meikal, Ignel first dismisses its low-grade material but quickly identifies the design's order, embedded Dignity Skill, and intention to conceal the sword's true worth. News of the disciple persuades Ignel to reinforce it, and the unusual nature of Solitary Unbowed makes the work valuable as research. While keeping that sword for a month, Ignel loans Jaehwan the unfinished fourth signature, Solitary Existence, after he withstands its current and calms its young spirit. Ignel later finishes work on Solitary Unbowed and leaves it with Manri Shintong for Jaehwan. (Chapters 180–181 and 212)

After the Hachenold Catastrophe, Ignel disappears from ordinary Abyss society. Jaehwan eventually finds the Dream Demon inside one of 〈Panopticon〉's aquariums. Mulack Armelt explains that Ignel recently attained the rank of 「Master」 and was assigned to help maintain the structure after traveling up the Time Waterfall and being retrieved. The discovery confirms the recognition Ignel had long deserved, but places the Creator within the system surrounding the First Nightmare rather than back at the workshop. (Chapter 243)

Appearance and personality

The chapters identify Ignel as an old Dream Demon whom Jaehwan recognizes from a portrait, but do not give a detailed face, body, or clothing description. In the workshop Ignel wears gloves while handling spirit weapons, scratches a cheek when flattered, and proudly puffs out their chest after naming Coexistence. At the latest appearance, Ignel is visible within an aquarium used by Panopticon, with no further physical condition described. (Chapters 179–180 and 243)

Ignel is abrasive, proud, and intensely serious about craft. They belittle poor material and human work, resent the Dream Demon Association, and regard displaying an unfinished sword as humiliating. That pride is balanced by exact judgment and professional curiosity: Ignel recognizes Meikal's clear design, refuses to overwrite its intent merely to demonstrate superiority, and offers free work in exchange for studying a sword that defies familiar categories. Praise makes Ignel easier to persuade, but the resulting decisions remain grounded in the artifact's technical interest. (Chapters 179–180)

Powers and limitations

Creation and analysis

Ignel can manipulate small amounts of World Power at the level of individual particles and use those movements to scan a weapon's structure and spirit. A brief examination reveals Solitary Unbowed's exhausted scabbard, concealed function, Dignity Skill, and origin outside the simple choice between naturally occurring and deliberately created. Ignel is also experienced enough to handle the resistant spirit weapon without difficulty. Their World Pressure is not especially high, emphasizing precision and knowledge rather than direct combat power. (Chapter 180)

Master craftsmanship

Ignel creates elite Parts and spirit weapons, founds a major workshop, teaches disciples, and develops a signature line used by Divine Throne-level gods. Coexistence is finished and Solitary Existence durable enough to clash repeatedly with the machine X, but Ignel openly admits that the latter is unfinished and initially cannot forge its Black Adamantium spirit stone into a proper edge. The series has not surpassed the Three Divine Artifacts in demonstrated power. These limits, and Ignel's respect for the intent embedded in Meikal's scabbard, show that Master craftsmanship is transformative but not unrestricted. (Chapters 179–181 and 190)

Relationships

  • Meikal: Meikal is Ignel's human disciple and the original maker of Solitary Unbowed's scabbard. News of Meikal prompts Ignel to help Jaehwan, and technical examination leads the master to preserve rather than erase the disciple's design.
  • Jaehwan: Jaehwan brings Ignel an unprecedented spirit weapon, insists on preserving its meaningful scabbard, and becomes the first shown wielder able to calm Solitary Existence.
  • Maiad van Declan: Maiad is a knowledgeable client who flatters and challenges Ignel into accepting the repair. Ignel provides Coexistence in exchange for rare materials from Maiad's forces.
  • Mulack Armelt: Mulack oversees or interprets Panopticon when Jaehwan finds Ignel there and explains the Creator's recent promotion and assignment.

Items

  • Coexistence: The third God's Collection signature, commissioned for Maiad and designed to grow toward the status of a Divine Artifact through its wielder.
  • Solitary Existence: Ignel's unfinished fourth signature, forged from a naturally awakened Black Adamantium spirit stone and loaned to Jaehwan.
  • Solitary Unbowed: Ignel studies the anomalous spirit weapon and reinforces Meikal's scabbard without discarding its original intent.
