Moonshine Flower

The Moonshine Flower is a five-petaled divine plant found only in the Eternal Garden. A single petal supplies one of the three main ingredients of a Demi-God Breakthrough Potion, so control of the flowers serves first as a divine monopoly and later as a strategic resource of the Cult of Ascension.

History

Kaelith's guarded monopoly

Kaelith claims every Moonshine Flower growing in the Eternal Garden and monitors the domain closely enough that Mauriss regards undetected theft as effectively impossible. Because each flower is a necessary source material for Demi-God ascension, Kaelith's control lets him ration access to prospective challengers; applicants may wait decades for an allotment, while attempts to obtain one without permission can cost intruders their souls. Raymond nonetheless finds a way around Kaelith's surveillance and removes one flower for Aegon Veyr. The specimen has five blue-silver petals whose light shifts with the viewing angle, a faint pulse, and a combination of cool touch and radiating divine warmth. Raymond explains that each petal can support one potion, turning this single covert transfer into as many as five possible ascension attempts and giving Veyr a material reason to protect it. Preservation and potion use

Veyr hides the intact flower inside his robes and still carries it while gathering the second controlled ingredient in the Pit. The blossom survives that journey without any reported loss of petals or potency, and the Cult later keeps it in a secure container in the production yard. Its five remaining petals make it the immediate bottleneck even when the Cult has enough Granada water and Pit soil for many more batches. (Chapters 753, 963, and 1083)

During the first documented brew, the potion masters cut one petal with a sanctified crystal blade and separate its outer luminance from its nectar-rich core so the two fractions can enter the mixture at different stages. The addition produces a violent surge that must be stabilized, after which the batch reaches more than 99.4 percent purity. This establishes the flower as a reactive, carefully processed ingredient rather than a petal that can simply be dropped into a finished potion. (Chapter 1085)

Succession at the Eternal Garden

After Kaelith learns that the Cult possesses Moonshine Flowers, Leo Skyshard discloses that Raymond supplied Veyr in exchange for information, confirming that the earlier specimen did not represent a willing release from Kaelith's stock. Kaelith's death then removes the Garden's sovereign, and Leo moves before the Great Clans can divide the domain, claiming the Garden and particularly its flowers for the Cult whose members paid for the campaign against him. Su Yang arrives with a Su Clan fleet intending to seize the flowers but finds Leo already in control. Leo refuses to distribute them freely, even to an ally, while also rejecting Kaelith's practice of using scarcity solely to suppress new divine rivals. He instead offers access through negotiated payment, resources, cooperation, or territory, leaving the supply scarce and controlled but making trade the Cult's declared policy at the latest point in the corpus. Abilities and properties

• Each flower has five petals, and one petal is sufficient for one Demi-God Breakthrough Potion. The flower is indispensable to that formula but does not itself grant a breakthrough: the potion also requires Granada water, Pit soil, auxiliary ingredients, exact manufacture, and a qualified consumer able to survive the attempt. • A fresh specimen appears delicate and ethereal, with five petals that shift between blue and silver, emit a faint pulse, feel cool, and radiate divine warmth. These observed traits signal its unusual nature, but the corpus does not assign the intact flower an autonomous combat power or consciousness. (Chapter 753)
• The petal contains at least two functionally distinct fractions: an outer luminance and a nectar-rich core. Potion masters separate them with a sanctified crystal blade and add them at different moments; the Moonshine component then drives a surge that requires controlled stabilization. The evidence establishes reactive alchemical behavior, not the complete chemistry of the plant. (Chapter 1085)
• Moonshine Flowers are said to grow only in the Eternal Garden, and their limited supply constrains potion production even after water and soil become plentiful. The supplied chapters do not explain germination, cultivation time, propagation, soil requirements, or whether the plants can survive transplantation, so Kaelith's and later Leo's control of the Garden cannot be reduced to a documented growing technique. • An intact flower remains viable while concealed in Veyr's robes through his expedition and later while held in a secure Cult container.
