Jacob

Jacob is Leo Skyshard and Luke Skyshard's father, a military man whose long absence from Earth strains his relationship with Leo.

Biography

Estrangement and a restrained reconciliation

Jacob leaves his family on Earth to serve in the military, and the resulting childhood absence leaves Leo unwilling to forgive him even after Jacob tries to make amends. War later costs Jacob an eye, but the family's relocation brings father and son together again. Seeing Jacob's genuine love through his aura, Leo finally calls him “Father” and permits a shared embrace, though he does not yet return Jacob's affection; later family scenes show Jacob still present, aging, protective, and integrated into the household. (Chapters 252, 372, 400, 478–493, 688, and 727)

Appearance and personality

Jacob is tall and broad-shouldered, with calloused hands; by later years his beard is streaked silver, his posture has bent slightly, and a wartime eye injury is temporarily bandaged. Stern and guarded, he hides strong emotion, yet he is gentle with children, protective of his family, and persistent in seeking Leo's forgiveness. (Chapters 252, 372, 400, 478, and 727)

Abilities and power progression

Jacob is an experienced soldier who survives losing an eye in battle and immediately arms himself when Dupravel appears at the family home. The eye is expected to receive living-tissue or cybernetic replacement, but no cultivation tier, combat technique, weapon specialty, or later power progression is established. • Leo Skyshard resents Jacob's military absence for years, then begins forgiving him during their reunion. (Chapters 252 and 400)
