Camilla
Lady Camilla is the former governess of Cygnia's twin Princesses and the tutor assigned to teach Dominic Wavemates courtly manners and regulations. Her adaptive but demanding lessons prepare him for duties whose protocol changes as rapidly as his titles.
Biography
Training a rapidly promoted adviser
Camilla begins tutoring Dominic when he becomes Royal Sorcerer, judging that he has at least learned not to interrupt before she introduces the formal rules of noble conduct. When his duties expand to Royal adviser, she recognizes the change from his posture and rebuilds the curriculum around the new office, bringing a larger set of textbooks and a concise cheat sheet suited to his learning habits. Her instruction becomes practically consequential: Dominic later recalls her rules when handling private towers, Royal protocol, and educational plans, even when he regrets not listening closely enough. The demanding appointment therefore helps an inexperienced young mage function inside the court rather than merely teaching decorative etiquette. (Chapters 87–152)
Camilla's reputation persists long after the lessons themselves. Alexis remembers still receiving basic education from her when Wavemates fell, and Dominic later groups Camilla with Lucy as terrifyingly effective teachers assigned after his promotions. The corpus does not establish Camilla's later employment, but these recollections show that her methods shaped both Royal students and the adviser who eventually governed Wistover. (Chapters 158, 183, and 601)
Appearance and personality
The corpus gives no stable physical description of Camilla. She smiles at good manners, uses sharp looks to control observers, and criticizes weak work closely enough to distress students. Beneath that severity she is observant and adaptive, preparing summaries once she understands how Dominic learns rather than insisting on a single teaching method. (Chapters 87, 94, and 157)
Magic, skills, and craft
The corpus does not establish personal magic for Camilla. Her skills are pedagogy, curriculum design, courtly manners, noble and Royal protocol, government regulations, and rapid assessment of students. She changes material when Dominic's office changes and pairs detailed textbooks with a condensed reference sheet, demonstrating both subject mastery and adaptation to the learner. (Chapters 87–102 and 138–158)
