Lucy

Lucy is the Arcane Engineering tutor assigned to Dominic Wavemates after his promotion to Royal Sorcerer. Her strict insistence on correct process gives his childhood craft knowledge a formal engineering foundation and prepares him to evaluate magitech as part of Royal service.

Formalizing Dominic's engineering craft

Lucy teaches by the book and makes Dominic restart even simple devices whenever he skips standardized steps, refusing to accept prior experience as a substitute for disciplined method. She also takes his technical objections seriously, examining why a supposedly binary magitech lock uses a variable-output resistor, and guides him through the basics of constructing a magitech orb around a ruby. Dominic eventually proves that he can perform the elementary Arcane Engineer's trade, so her severity produces a concrete qualification rather than merely adding theory to skills he already possessed. When Dominic's responsibilities broaden, Lucy returns to help him reason about manor staffing, maintenance, expenses, and anti-spying preparations. Her lessons combine engineering with administrative consequences: she questions whether a Techno Wizard is truly required for routine maintenance and reduces expense planning to work the household can do itself. Dominic later remembers Lucy and Camilla as terrifyingly effective teachers assigned when he became Royal Sorcerer and Advisor, confirming that the technical course shaped how he handles the office as well as how he builds devices. Appearance and personality
