Proof of Castitas

The Proof of Castitas is an ancient crucifix artifact carrying the holiness of Castitas, the Goddess of Chastity. Seol Jihu receives it after appeasing the soul bound to a tomb in the Forest of Denial and later transfers it to Seo Yuhui as part of an exchange for the Flower of Soma.

History

The saintess's tomb

The proof is recovered only after Seol rejects the expedition's attempt to treat the tomb as ordinary treasure and addresses the resentment surrounding its occupant. Ian Denzel appraises the burial rewards and distinguishes the crucifix as a saintess's proof rather than generic valuables. The artifact consequently records both religious office and the moral choice that allowed the party to leave the Forest of Denial. (Chapters 28–30)

Exchange with the Star of Lust

Seo Yuhui recognizes the crucifix and confirms that its holiness has not dissipated despite its age. She needs the Proof of Castitas and related sacred objects for her own advancement, while Seol needs the Flower of Soma to transform his mana. Their agreement transfers the proof to her in exchange for the flower and other considerations. The item thereafter remains associated with Seo Yuhui's divine work, including its use as a sacred focus in the final campaign. (Chapters 82–84, 199–200)

Abilities and properties

  • The proof retains a substantial quantity of Castitas's holiness centuries after its creation. (Chapters 82–84)
  • It is specifically identified as a crucifix artifact and as proof of a saintess, but the corpus does not provide a complete activation method or an independent list of effects. (Chapter 82)
  • Seo Yuhui can use it as a sacred focus. Its power should not be conflated with her innate healing, Luxuria's Authorities, or the Flower of Soma transferred in the same bargain. (Chapters 82–84, 199–200)
