Flone's Pendant
Flone's Pendant is a necklace with a blue gem that Flone inherited as a cherished keepsake from her mother. She places it around Seol Jihu's neck after he frees her, then makes it her portable refuge when she leaves the place she had haunted for centuries.
History
A keepsake and a way out
When Seol releases Flone from the binding that confined her, she gives him the necklace but also enters it rather than disappearing. The gem changes from clear blue to black once she takes refuge inside. This lets Flone leave the Forest of Denial and travel with Seol, transforming a family keepsake into the practical means of her freedom. Seol carries it at his neck and learns to recognize the pendant's movement or light as part of communicating with her. (Chapters 74–75)
Rothschear coordinates and resonance
The pendant preserves more than a place for Flone to rest. It responds to remnants connected with the Rothschear family and carries the coordinates needed to find the hidden inheritance. During the later expedition, its light resonates with the route and helps connect Flone's family history to the Pagoda of Dreams. The object remains a guide and link, but Flone supplies the knowledge, choices, and power; the pendant does not make its living resident property of the wearer. (Chapters 78, 85–112)
Continuing companionship
Flone continues to enter and leave the pendant as she accompanies Seol through Valhalla's later campaigns. It gives her a refuge and a reliable point from which she can speak to or follow him, while Seol's custody makes him responsible for a treasured part of her family legacy. Their later spiritual bond develops beyond the necklace, but the keepsake remains associated with the companionship that began when she chose to leave confinement with him. (Chapters 118–190, 248)
Abilities and properties
- The pendant can house Flone's spirit and travel safely with a living wearer, allowing her to leave the location she formerly haunted. (Chapters 74–75)
- Its gem changes color when Flone resides inside and can move, glow, or resonate in response to her or to Rothschear-related phenomena. (Chapters 75, 78, 108)
- It stores or responds to coordinates connected with the Rothschear inheritance. The corpus does not present the pendant as a general-purpose map for unrelated locations. (Chapters 78, 108)
- Flone remains a sentient character who chooses when to enter, leave, speak, or act; the vessel does not establish ownership over her. (Chapters 74–190)
