Samuel is a Level 4 Pathfinder and leader of an independent expedition team in Haramark. He is an experienced tracker and capable mediator whose desire to rebuild his struggling team nevertheless contributes to the decision that gets the entire group killed. (Chapters 25–30)

Biography

Forest of Denial

Samuel recruits Seol Jihu as a porter for a reconnaissance mission that also conceals an expedition to a tomb. He manages disagreements, reads tracks, and reorganizes the formation after recognizing Seol’s ability, demonstrating genuine leadership skills. At the tomb, however, his investment in revitalizing his team makes him resist abandoning a profitable opportunity; after separating from the others, his group secretly returns and is killed by the vengeful spirit. His competence therefore survives in Seol’s later lessons, while his final judgment becomes a warning against staking everything on one expedition. (Chapters 25–30, 39, 108)
