Roselle La Grazia
Roselle La Grazia is the Dreaming Witch, a sorcery founder who preserves herself as a remnant thought inside the Pagoda of Dreams. After learning that the Empire she hated has already fallen, she turns from revenge toward teaching and later fights beside Paradise's coalition.
Biography
The Pagoda and a successor
Roselle lived under an Empire that privileged magic and persecuted witchcraft. She combined the two disciplines into sorcery, rebelled, and spread a dream curse that killed both imperial supporters and uninvolved citizens; she acknowledges those deaths without regret. Unable to finish her revenge in a mortal body, she preserves a remnant of herself and waits for centuries in the Pagoda. When Seol Jihu's expedition arrives with Flone, Roselle returns the Rothschear inheritance she had safeguarded and discovers that the Empire has long since vanished. The revelation removes her old purpose, so she asks Seol to find a successor capable of inheriting the Eternal Light of Wisdom instead. (Chapters 109–111)
Seol brings her Eun Yuri, whose talent lets Roselle continue the Grazia legacy. Roselle teaches through a Dream World, advises Valhalla, considers additional students, and eventually becomes Gluttony's second Servant. In the final war she commands the operation against Vulgar Chastity, provokes the Army Commander into releasing divinity, coordinates allies through telepathy, and creates the openings that make victory possible. Her postwar ability to detect a power beyond the Parasite Queen shows that she remains an active adviser rather than merely a stored memory. (Chapters 131–132, 136, 142, 167, 196, 199, 214)
Appearance and personality
Roselle appears as a young woman under 150 centimeters tall, with blue hair tied into a bun, pale skin, blue eyes, and a black gothic-lolita dress. She presents herself with courtly grace but can swear abruptly, read minds without permission, or demolish and restore her dream palace when upset. Pride in her scholarship coexists with patience toward talented students and an admitted softness when choosing a successor. (Chapters 109–110, 131, 167)
Abilities and class
Sorcery combines human mana-based magic with witchcraft that borrows supernatural or mystical power. Roselle controls dream environments, reads thoughts, communicates mentally across a battlefield, changes scenery with gestures, sorts and moves objects remotely, and casts curses and anti-evil magic powerful enough to contend with Army Commander-scale enemies. Her final-war enchantments let ordinary weapons strike a spirit body, but the runes on those weapons are Roselle's support rather than the wielders' innate power. (Chapters 109–110, 142, 196, 199)
Her continued form has limits. The woman encountered in the Pagoda is a remnant thought, not her original living body, and the dream curse has weakened over centuries. The corpus says she only barely touched origin-piercing magic near the end of her life, so later comparisons should not be read as proof that she fully mastered that realm. (Chapters 109–110, 220)
Relationships
- Seol Jihu: Seol resolves Roselle's obsolete revenge goal, finds her a successor, and later relies on her instruction and battlefield planning. (Chapters 109–110, 131–132, 199)
- Eun Yuri: Roselle recognizes Eun Yuri's exceptional aptitude and teaches her sorcery in the Dream World while considering how to pass on the Eternal Light of Wisdom. (Chapters 131–132, 136, 167)
- Flone: Flone's identity grants Seol's party legitimate access to Roselle and the Rothschear inheritance, linking two survivors of the fallen Empire. (Chapters 109, 111, 113)
Items
Roselle safeguards the Rothschear inheritance and the Eternal Light of Wisdom. The latter contains her accumulated sorcery mastery for a successor, but neither is a generated item in the supplied manifest. (Chapters 109–111, 167)
