Mikhail

Mikhail is a Level 3 Sword Runner who joins Seol Jihu's investigation of the mutant outbreaks around Ramman Village. Cheerful and ambitious, he seeks the achievement needed to advance his class but accepts responsibility when that ambition leads his team into avoidable danger.

Biography

The Ramman Village investigation

Introducing himself as “Mikhailov,” Mikhail agrees to the mission after learning that it may solve Ramman's long-running mystery rather than merely cull mutants. The chance for recognition and enough achievement to advance toward Level 4 strongly attracts him, yet he also accepts Seol's warning that the theory is uncertain. During the expedition he fights on the front line, encourages Seol when the investigation appears stalled, and insists that the team chose the risk for itself rather than placing the entire burden on its new leader. (Chapters 36–38)

Mikhail's optimism helps drive the group into the concealed laboratory, where the Nest eventually incapacitates him and Veronika. After Seol and the others carry them out, he condemns Gierszal for abandoning the team, but also admits that greed made him ignore Seol's earlier caution. He then helps with the return preparations and later visits to congratulate Seol on surviving another mission. Seol still wonders about Mikhail's welfare in Chapter 124; Chapter 159 identifies Veronika as his teammate but does not say that Mikhail himself died, so his later status remains unresolved. (Chapters 38–40, 50, 124, 159)

Appearance and personality

Mikhail is lanky, with short, neatly trimmed hair and small, round-looking eyes. He is sociable, quick to laugh, and excited by the prestige of advancing to the proposed Level 4 class “Sword Actor.” His enthusiasm can shade into greed, but he also notices when Seol is discouraged, offers reassurance without evading responsibility, and apologizes once the mission's consequences become clear. (Chapters 36, 38–40)

Abilities and class

As a Level 3 Sword Runner, Mikhail fights with a sword and can sheath its blade in a bluish aura. He uses that enhancement during direct clashes with the Ramman mutants, contributing to a veteran team's frontal breakthrough. The corpus does not name the aura, explain its power source, or establish its limits, and his hoped-for advancement to Level 4 is never confirmed. (Chapters 36, 38)

Relationships

  • Veronika: Veronika is Mikhail's long-term teammate and fellow Ramman expedition member. They fight, are incapacitated, accept blame, and return together. (Chapters 36–40, 159)
  • Seol Jihu: Mikhail accepts Seol's leadership, reassures him when the mission seems fruitless, and later apologizes for letting greed overtake caution. (Chapters 36–40, 50)
  • Muto Arbor: Mikhail's team undertakes the Ramman Village request under Muto Arbor's local authority, although the corpus does not show a close personal relationship between them. (Chapters 36–40)
