Muto Arbor

Muto Arbor is Ramman Village's head and a former Mage of the Delphinion Duchy. His hidden stores and military expertise support Haramark from local recovery through the wars against the Parasites.

Biography

Village elder and battlefield commander

After Ramman Village survives its crisis, Muto meets Jang Maldong, credits his training for Seol Jihu's courage, and gives Seol a map to one of twenty-two mountain hideouts. The request to recover old books and equipment is deliberately framed as an errand, but its contents serve as payment and training resources. Muto's praise also helps Jang recognize his attachment to his students, giving the village head's quiet intervention consequences beyond the supplies themselves. (Chapters 55–56)

Muto later resumes the military work implied by his past as a distinguished Mage. He commands Haramark's Blade Ballistas during the Arden Valley battle and survives to visit Seol during his recovery. As Haramark's demands grow, Teresa describes him as overworked but indispensable; during the Tigol campaign he again directs hundreds of ballista projectiles against the Parasites' flying forces. These appearances move him from a cautious village elder back into large-scale defense without establishing that he abandons responsibility for Ramman. (Chapters 85, 95, 131, 149)

Appearance and personality

Muto is an old man whose modest self-presentation conceals a distinguished magical and military career. He is courteous toward Jang, playful when discussing his many escape tunnels, and practical enough to prepare caches long before they are needed. His roundabout generosity lets others preserve their dignity while still receiving help. (Chapter 55)

Abilities and class

Muto is identified as a former Mage of the Delphinion Duchy and maintains hideouts containing alchemical potions, books, and equipment. On the battlefield, his demonstrated specialty is command of engineered defenses: he calculates firing direction and timing for Blade Ballistas whose curved projectiles tear through airborne Parasites. The corpus does not name his personal spells or establish that he invented the ballistas, so his exact magical school and contribution to their construction remain unknown.
