Biography

The wager that opens a closed door

Hwajung initially dismisses Seol's attempt to involve her household in the Fallen Angels' plight, but his unusual standing makes her curious enough to propose a wager: if his noodles satisfy even one of four goddesses, she will help him meet Kim Soohyun. His first attempt fails, and Hwajung identifies stubborn pride beneath his rigid recipe rather than simply mocking the result. By giving him her number and permitting another try, she converts rejection into a demanding test that pushes him to reconsider how he uses his craft. (Chapters 216–217)

When Seol returns with a personalized dish, Hwajung admits defeat without evasion. The meal lets her understand why humans value eating, and she keeps the bargain by arranging the promised visitor for the following night.
