Snappy

Snappy is the Boundless Hydra, the Lord Protector of the Order of the Malefic Viper, and one of the Malefic Viper’s oldest companions. After guarding the diminished Order through the Viper’s absence, he becomes Sandy’s Patron and Chosen-sponsor.

Biography

Guardian of the Order and Patron of Sandy

Snappy remained the Order’s only publicly active god while the Malefic Viper was in seclusion, preserving enough of the faction that its enemies could not eliminate it. The Viper’s return broke his usual stoicism: Snappy cried openly when reunited with his master and friend, then resumed his place beside him as hidden loyalists returned and the Order began rebuilding. (Chapters 46–50, 399)

When the Viper proposed Sandy as a prospective blessed, Snappy initially worried that the Cosmic Genesis Worm was too risky and too bound to Jake. Direct examination convinced him that Sandy possessed an independent will and a consumption-focused Path compatible with his own. He granted a costly True Blessing, accepted responsibility for Sandy’s development, and later remained invested despite his Chosen’s habit of ignoring advice and contacting him chiefly to request food. (Chapters 547–549, 1182)

Appearance and personality

Snappy’s true form is a hydra with more heads than a mortal mind can comfortably process, though he can compress it to a nine-headed form for conversation. He normally presents a stoic, formal dignity, but his emotional reunion with the Viper and his exasperation with Sandy reveal deep loyalty, caution, and a capacity for affectionate embarrassment. (Chapters 48, 548, 1182)

Path, class, and abilities

Snappy began as a comparatively unintelligent two-headed hydra and gained heads through successive grades, reaching nine at C-grade and ever larger forms afterward. Hydra racial power gives exceptional health, regeneration, and physical resistance; his scales are especially effective against physical attacks. His early weakness was limited tactical sophistication, and a recorded D-grade incarnation could be outmaneuvered even while being extremely difficult to injure. (Chapters 409–415)

His mature Path centers on consumption without a fixed upper limit. That conceptual alignment lets his Records complement Sandy’s digestion-based growth. Granting a True Blessing transfers part of a god’s maximum Records and carries a lasting loss if the Chosen dies prematurely, so Snappy’s sponsorship is both a power and a real investment rather than a cost-free title. (Chapters 548, 549)
