Keerla
Keerla is a high elf hunter blessed by Artemis, partnered with her wife Solana in both combat and life within the Pantheon of Life.
Biography
Fortuna Ferrets and an unexpected friendship
Keerla and Solana discover that Simivitas are trying to seize endangered Fortuna Ferret kits and intervene because their Pantheon loyalties will not let them abandon the young. Keerla infiltrates the mound, attempts diplomacy through husbandry skills, and calls emergency aid when the Chieftain makes violence unavoidable. She initially mistakes Jake's lower level for weakness and tells him to flee, then immediately corrects herself and accepts his help once his first arrow reveals his power. After the kits are saved, her candid attempt to stay connected with a rising hunter leads to an invitation to dinner. Much later she hosts Jake Thayne with Solana, seeks insight from her Patron in disguise, and secures an open invitation to visit Jake's planet, turning a rescue into a promising friendship. (Chapters 1109–1112 and 1170–1178)
Appearance and personality
Keerla is explicitly a high elf and is consistently equipped as an archer. Her detailed facial features and clothing are not described. She is quick-thinking, candid, protective of endangered beasts, ambitious about her Path, and notably less formal than Solana. Her humor and shameless networking can embarrass her wife, but she is also willing to admit mistakes immediately and risk herself for a cause she believes worthwhile. (Chapters 1109–1111 and 1175–1178)
Path, class, and abilities
Keerla is an archer talented enough to earn Artemis's Blessing, with supporting professions in bowyery and beast husbandry. Working with Solana, she can reliably hunt peak C-grades and aims to defeat a B-grade before evolving. (Chapters 1109 and 1177)
- Archery and hunting: Her bow is epic rarity and her experience lets her identify rare Hunting Ground species and threats quickly. The Simivita battle shows an important limitation: when a peak C-grade Chieftain closes on her amid a larger group, she is pushed into survival rather than free shooting and needs Solana or another ally to create space. (Chapters 1109–1111 and 1177)
- Husbandry and calming: Keerla uses profession skills to calm hostile or frightened beasts and communicate intent, which temporarily keeps the Simivitas talking and later reassures the returning Fortuna Ferret. These skills influence behavior but do not compel an intelligent enemy; the Chieftain rejects negotiation and attacks anyway. (Chapters 1109–1111)
- Bowyer's craft: She identifies herself as a bowyer and can appreciate the construction and Records of Jake's divine-material bow simply by handling it. The corpus does not show her crafting a named weapon, so her current output is established only through profession and her own epic bow, not a demonstrated masterpiece. (Chapter 1177)
Relationships
- Solana: Keerla and Solana are wives and long-established hunting partners. Keerla supplies ranged pressure and beast expertise while Solana fights in melee and protects objectives; their paired communication rings and easy domestic teasing show the bond extends well beyond battle.
- Artemis: Artemis is Keerla's Patron. Keerla reveres her guidance and wants greater notice, unknowingly discussing her Blessing with Artemis while the god uses the identity Diana.
- Jake Thayne: Keerla first underestimates Jake, then becomes frank about wanting to stay in contact because she recognizes his future importance. Their later dinner establishes a more personal connection and an invitation to Earth.
