Gwyndyr

Gwyndyr is an ancient god and the leader of the Crimson Flame, a disciplined pantheon and mercenary organization centered on fire.

Biography

From mortal archer to ancient god

Gwyndyr first enters the account by offering Jake a blessing, training, and the possibility of inheriting a legacy based on archery and fire. Duskleaf later identifies him as a god of the seventh era who killed a god while still mortal, founded the Crimson Flame, and grew into a power whom even Primordials treat seriously. His own C-grade Nevermore performance remains sixth on the living all-time leaderboard. (Chapters 115, 116, 876)

Patron and commander

On Earth, Gwyndyr’s influence is chiefly visible through Maria and other Crimson Flame followers. His organization assigns mercenary work from the top down, and he can push an urgent message through the veil around the newly integrated universe to recall Maria from a dungeon at Jake’s request. Later descriptions place him among the multiverse’s pinnacle non-Primordial gods and likely its foremost living archer. (Chapters 873, 1055–1057, 1182, 1186, 1189)

Appearance and personality

The supplied corpus never places Gwyndyr’s physical form on page and provides no stable bodily description. His conduct is conveyed institutionally: he is organized, responsive to proper divine channels, generous enough to offer guidance to talent, and comfortable directing followers through a strict chain of command.

Path, class, and abilities

  • Fire-archery legacy: His Path fuses archery with the concept of fire. Maria’s signature Galeshot of Gwyndyr manifests fiery wind and a winged arrow, representative evidence of how the legacy joins projectile technique to flame rather than treating them as separate schools.
  • Divine sponsorship: He can offer blessings, structured training, and legacy access. His followers gain techniques and institutional assignments, but the corpus does not quantify the divine cost of maintaining those connections.
  • Long-range divine contact: Even with the ninety-third universe partly veiled, Gwyndyr reaches his blessed follower indirectly and orders her return. The communication is possible but constrained enough that Jake must route the request through available Crimson Flame members.
  • Power and limits: Gwyndyr is a pinnacle non-Primordial and top archer, but the Malefic Viper judges him beatable in neutral conditions and notes that divine-realm advantage and the difficulty of killing gods complicate any comparison.
  • Latest state: He remains alive, leads the Crimson Flame, and continues to direct Maria’s mercenary service.

Relationships

  • Maria is his blessed follower and a field mercenary of the Crimson Flame. His direction shapes her fire archery and can override her immediate plans when the faction needs her elsewhere.
  • Jake Thayne declines Gwyndyr’s original invitation but later uses formal divine and faction channels to request his help contacting Maria, creating a limited relationship of practical favors.
