Biography

Chosen and protector

The Boundless Hydra met Sandy in a divine realm, compressing an otherwise overwhelming true form into nine heads. He tested whether Sandy would remain loyal to Jake Thayne, betray companions for treasure, or ever become satisfied; Sandy's candid attachment to Jake convinced him to grant a True Blessing and make the worm his Chosen. Later, the Hydra warned Meira that becoming Duskleaf's disciple carried obligations and secrets, promising lethal consequences for betrayal while also revealing his protective loyalty to Duskleaf. During the conflict around the Order, the Hydra directed retreats while the situation remained uncertain. He later spread hundreds of heads around an entire city as a living defensive wall, continued replacing losses when Valdemar crushed them, and held the vanguard until the Malefic Viper ordered him to stop. The display confirmed enormous resilience without making him the equal of the Primordials opposing him. (Chapters 1006, 1009–1010)

Appearance and personality

His true body is a mass of more heads than a mortal mind can comfortably process, though he can reduce it to a nine-headed hydra or assume a humanoid form. He is stern, formal, cautious, and deeply dutiful. Sandy frustrates him, while his conduct toward Duskleaf exposes a protective, almost sentimental side.

Path, class, and abilities

The Hydra follows consumption and continuous growth: hydras become stronger by adding heads, and he found no fixed apex to that process. He can produce vast numbers of heads, replace destroyed ones, and use his body as a city-scale barrier. His losses against Valdemar are individually insignificant, but “seemingly infinite” is an opponent's assessment rather than proof of literal infinity. He remains below the strongest Primordials, is wary of Yip of Yore, and ultimately follows the Viper's command rather than pursuing a hopeless clash.
