Kim Horak is a physically imposing Cube cadet who begins as one of Shin Jonghak's followers and later joins the Anti-Demon Bureau's Secret Service. His early bullying and defeat by Kim Hajin give way to a more professional role fighting demons.

Biography

Cube cadet

Horak enters Cube as a highly ranked close-combat specialist with a large physique and an intimidating manner. He follows Shin Jonghak, participates in team exercises, and helps nurse him after injury, but also uses his position to bully weaker cadets. Hajin defeats him in a ranked duel by breaking through his qi reinforcement with gunfire. The public loss stops the open bullying and becomes evidence that Hajin can challenge top cadets despite his low rank. (Chapters 4–88)

Anti-Demon Bureau

Years later, Horak remains associated with Shin Jonghak's former circle but accepts a place in the Anti-Demon Bureau's seven-person Secret Service. He struggles with the unit's specialized training and fights through groups of demons beside Yi Yeonghan, then helps transfer captured enemies to the Bureau. His later work shows a shift from schoolyard intimidation to an institutional combat role, though the corpus does not explore his personal reflection on that change. (Chapters 329–342)

Appearance and personality

Kim Horak is bulky, muscular, large-framed, and intimidating. He is foul-mouthed and initially willing to bully weaker students, but he is also loyal enough to care for Shin Jonghak after injury and eventually works within a coordinated anti-demon team. (Chapters 4, 34–48, and 329–334)

Gifts and abilities

Horak specializes in close-range combat and can reinforce his body with qi strongly enough to withstand many non-vital gunshots. Hajin's enhanced bullets can break that reinforcement, establishing a clear defensive limit. No named Gift or formal martial Art is provided. (Chapters 38–42 and 88)

Relationships

  • Shin Jonghak: Horak begins as his follower and teammate and shows personal loyalty when Jonghak is injured.
