Laitla
Biography
The Angry One’s aerial champion
Laitla enters the war as the third apostle of the Angry One and as one of the strongest Dragons serving the Union Kingdom. It strikes from the air with a combination of flight and breath magic that ordinary ground technology cannot readily answer, and an ambush against the fleet forces its opponents to concentrate exceptional firepower against it. The resulting explosion wounds Laitla, but Hegemonia retrieves the Dragon before the enemy can convert that injury into a decisive loss. (Chapters 228, 230–233)
Laitla later overwhelms Aruna in direct combat, tearing away her head and wings while enduring the blue fire that scorches its feet and scales. That victory does not make Laitla strategically unstoppable: Aruna and Mazdari subsequently contain it long enough to keep it from reinforcing the Union fleet, and it adopts a defensive posture when several powerful opponents converge. Laitla survives into the renewed conflict with the old gods and catches the falling Chistka and Hegemonia, continuing to act as both combatant and rescuer. (Chapters 241, 246, 251, 308, 312)
Appearance and personality
Laitla is a large winged Dragon with protective scales, powerful jaws, and the anatomy needed to use destructive breath attacks. Blue fire visibly scorches its feet and scales during its fight with Aruna, showing injury without immediately disabling it. The corpus gives little interior narration for Laitla; its repeated willingness to enter close combat and to catch falling allies makes it appear aggressive in battle but dependable toward the forces it serves.
Powers and abilities
- Flight: Laitla can fight and maneuver at altitude, giving it reach that conventional ground forces struggle to contest. Coordinated aerial opponents can nevertheless occupy and contain it.
- Breath magic: Its breath provides a long-range magical attack capable of threatening fleets and ground positions. The exact substance, recharge interval, and maximum range are not specified.
- Draconic strength: Laitla tears off Aruna’s head and wings in close combat, demonstrating enormous jaw and bodily strength against another powerful flying creature.
- Scaled durability: It remains combat-capable while Aruna’s blue flames scorch its extremities and scales. A sufficiently concentrated explosion can still wound it, so the protection is substantial rather than absolute.
- Aerial rescue: Laitla can intercept falling allies, as shown when it catches Chistka and Hegemonia. This depends on position and timing rather than a separate named miracle.
Relationships
- Hegemonia: The Angry One whom Laitla serves; Hegemonia retrieves the wounded Dragon, and Laitla later catches her during a fall.
- Salkait: A fellow Dragon associated with the Angry One’s forces and one of the few beings used as a benchmark for Laitla’s strength.
- Aruna: A recurring aerial opponent whom Laitla maims in one battle but who later helps contain it.
- Mazdari: One of the opponents who prevent Laitla from aiding the fleet.
- Chistka: An allied player whom Laitla catches alongside Hegemonia.
