Dordol
Dordol is an Ogre strategist whose battlefield record overcomes court prejudice and makes them the Black Scale Empire’s supreme commander.
Biography
The commander chosen for judgment
Dordol rises through victories rather than physical intimidation. After Vasen Lak Orazen’s death, Kyle Lak Orazen appoints the comparatively small Ogre as supreme commander despite opposition from a court still dominated by Lizardmen. Dordol validates that trust by defending the fourth continent during the offensive against Vaseniol and pushing the enemy south so effectively that the city is not attacked again. Their elevation extends Kyle’s merit-based reforms into the military’s highest office. (Chapter 227)
As an apostle, Dordol commands combined operations from the World Watcher, studying reconnaissance, supply routes, coastal artillery, and worst-case outcomes while other apostles fight directly. They assume command at Hareun, coordinate bombardment and a secret counterattack, and later help Vasen operate the Empire’s Battle System against the old gods. Dordol considers Vasen better suited to gamble with the whole system, but their own caution ensures that the command always has a plan if divine victory fails. (Chapters 228–252 and 295–312)
Appearance and personality
Dordol is an Ogre, though smaller than most of their species. Their size still casts a giant shadow over a map, but officers value their fast calculation, strategic understanding, and calm attention more than physical strength. They are cautious without becoming immobile, modest about Vasen’s superior aptitude for game-like total command, and consistently alert to information others miss amid a crisis. (Chapters 227, 236–252, and 295–312)
Powers and abilities
Dordol’s primary abilities are command, logistics, and rapid strategic calculation. As an apostle and war hero, they also possess an effect that raises soldiers’ morale and performance, though the source does not provide its name, exact range, duration, or cost. They command artillery and fleets but do not personally produce those weapons’ effects. Their practice of preparing for defeat is a cognitive discipline rather than foresight, and their plans remain dependent on reconnaissance, staff officers, supply, and cooperating apostles. (Chapters 227–252 and 295–312)
