Cyan Sparrow Plume

Cyan Sparrow Plume is Qinghong's feathered dharma robe, reforged by Chu Minglian from the brocade robe she captured after killing Liu Qiao. Its feathers provide defense, swift movement, protection against illusions, and an attack against multiple enemies. It is a separate treasure from the An Family Jade Armor. (Chapters 751–752 and 788–789)

History

A robe taken from a devil cultivator

Liu Qiao wore a Foundation Establishment Realm brocade robe when she and Helian Changguang attacked Qinghong during the devil plague. Qinghong's lightning charred it during the battle. After Liu Qiao was destroyed, the robe fell toward the forest; Qinghong returned holding it on her silver spear. (Chapters 751–752)

Its origin continued to matter after its transformation. Helian Changguang survived that encounter, and Qinghong specifically told Xuanfeng about him. When Xuanfeng later encountered Helian, the earlier capture was recalled as the source of the robe that became Cyan Sparrow Plume. This was the reforging of Liu Qiao's treasure, rather than a second robe obtained in that later meeting. (Chapter 838)

Chu Minglian's most accomplished refitting

Chu Minglian presented the finished white feathered robe at Mount Yan Pass. He restored dormant Wanglin Sect methods that the devil cultivators had not understood, incorporated Cold-metal and Ice-jade, and added a technique to release all thirty-two cyan tail feathers as attacks. Proud of the result, he called it the best work he had yet produced, even though it was a refitted artifact. Qinghong named it Cyan Sparrow Plume. (Chapter 788)

The Ning Family had sent Minglian and covered his compensation. Qinghong nevertheless gave him an additional pouch as thanks, explaining that she valued his skill and hoped for further cooperation. She then accepted the robe, turning a captured enemy artifact into equipment tailored to her own needs. (Chapter 789)

Combining the robe with thunder movement

Qinghong used its light together with her own thunder to move and retreat. The robe helped her pass through thunder after a dangerous exchange, and its speed complemented her lightning sufficiently to make her one of the fastest members of a travelling group. Its blue-white light also reinforced her escape during another retreat. (Chapters 803, 811, and 815)

The robe was not immune to opposing forces. Merging Fire clung to it and burned away Qinghong's mana; withdrawing her mana would instead expose the garment to damage. She therefore had to maintain its defense at a continuing cost. The artifact remained associated with her feathered attire after her elevation, but no distinct later reforging of its named abilities is established. (Chapters 854 and 1263)

Abilities and properties

Defense, swift flight, and Tranquil Frost

The finished robe has white feathers, a cyan-blue band around the collar and shoulders, and flowing cyan, blue, and white plumage. It can withstand casual attacks by an ordinary Foundation Establishment Realm cultivator, with stronger protection when Qinghong actively reinforces it with mana. It can also assume the appearance of a plain white garment. (Chapters 788 and 829)

Cyan Plume operates by channeling mana into its thirty-two tail feathers. Their cyan light supports swift movement through the sky or sea. Qinghong combines this item-derived acceleration with her own thunder rather than obtaining all her speed from the robe alone. (Chapters 788, 811, and 815)

Tranquil Frost comes from the incorporated Cold-metal and Ice-jade. Wearing the robe produces a calming, icy aura that assists cultivation and resistance to illusions in combat. These are the smith's explained properties; they do not establish universal immunity to mental attacks. (Chapter 788)

Imperial Plume and the cost of active defense

Minglian's added Imperial Plume technique releases all thirty-two cyan feathers at once. Each trails light and flies like an arrow, giving the robe an attack suited to numerous enemies. Its movement and defensive methods also require mana, and the Merging Fire encounter shows how an enemy can turn continued protection into sustained expenditure. (Chapters 788 and 854)
