Zhusheng
Zhusheng is a Jade True Daoist Master from the southern border whose alliance with Li Ximing grows through joint campaigns, battlefield counsel, and exchanges of rare materials. He first works with Ximing to resist the Great Konghai Temple, then joins the northern coalition and later aids a battle that leaves him and his allies at their limit. Under Great Song, he is identified as Protector-General Liu, garrisoning the Stillness Sea Protectorate in the former Shahuang lands. (Chapters 1372–1386, 1420–1421, 1446–1449, 1529–1531, 1607, 1641, 1690)
Biography
Defending the southern border
When Li Ximing traveled south to support the Azure Pond Sect, he met Zhusheng at his mountain. The two discussed the threat from Great Konghai Temple and the loss of Stone Pond, which had exposed the Southern Sea. Zhusheng was an early-stage Purple Mansion cultivator with two divine abilities, an ally of Azure Pond and close associate of the Si family; Ximing also learned that Zhusheng descended from Chu’s former military commissioner Liu Yi. (Chapter 1372)
Zhusheng chose to act before the Great Konghai Temple could consolidate its gains. His own divine ability concealed the meeting, and he coordinated with Xianchan, the Southern Shun Raksha King, and other southern allies to strike Baoqing, while being clear that Stone Pond itself might not be retaken. Ximing agreed to take part, and the southern coalition succeeded in its attack. (Chapters 1372, 1374)
The defense became a negotiated rather than purely military settlement: with Qiuhu coordinating, the southern allies exchanged for Northern Dan Island, retaining it as a key defensive point even though Stone Pond remained lost. Zhusheng’s account of Jade True also later helped Ximing explain that lineage’s transformation arts, showing how their cooperation included exchange of doctrine as well as military aid. (Chapters 1380, 1386)
Joining the northern alliance
Zhusheng arrived from Shahuang at the Supreme Yang coalition’s invitation. Kan Ziyu’s sudden breakthrough accelerated the gathering: the formal invitation was meant to come days later, after Ning Wan returned and the other helpers assembled, but the coalition called Zhusheng up early. Li Ximing read the distant cultivator’s presence as a sign that the northern threat had drawn aid from beyond the coalition’s immediate neighbors. Once inside, Zhusheng asked where Zhugong was, carrying his concern for an ally into the war council. (Chapter 1420)
When Ximing left the mountain, Zhusheng said he disliked Prime Magnetism and would wait outside. He nevertheless helped Kuiqi form a divine-ability transformation that animated a wax figure in the clouds, making distant divination unreliable and giving Ximing time to move without revealing his absence. His caution about the formation did not prevent him from helping the coalition. (Chapter 1421)
Sword support and battlefield counsel
During the fighting at Mount Tangdao, Zhusheng held the Jade True sword crosswise to stabilize the violent purple-red light. He and Kuangyu, pale from battle, also fought together against a devil cultivator surrounded by rolling white aura, whose Dao lineage they could not identify. Zhusheng thus defended one of several contested positions while the northern and southern forces fought across the mountain. (Chapter 1428)
Afterward, Zhusheng gave Li Ximing a concise account of the southern fighting, including Wei Xuanyin’s move, Xiao’s intervention, Changxiao’s arrival, and Kuiqi’s situation. He then asked to examine the Aged Courtly Path Scripture, particularly its references to Dust of the Court, which was also important to his Dao lineage. His request turned the military partnership into an exchange of knowledge between the two cultivators. (Chapters 1446, 1449)
A continuing alliance in the Southern Sea
Zhusheng reappeared in the later battle around the Hongxue Gate. A white jade spirit sword emerged from the great void to strike at Shilou Yingge, and Li Zhouwei recognized the southern Jade True swordsman as a close friend of the Azure Pond Sect. Zhusheng fought beside Chen Yin while Ning Wan maintained the formation; the group was already struggling under Shilou’s True Fire before further attacks pressed them to their limit. (Chapters 1529–1531)
Li Zhouwei later suggested asking Zhusheng about an unusual item, and Li Ximing learned that Zhusheng had been found at a friend’s residence in the Northern Sea, helping refine talismans. Zhusheng asked about obtaining Dust of the Court and offered a way to secure Qilin Crow Spirit Husk and Secondary Manifest Whitegold in return; the exchange had not yet been completed. His unresolved affairs still mattered to the Southern Sea’s future. (Chapters 1594, 1607, 1641)
Kuangyu had already anticipated that Zhusheng would become Protector-General Liu as the new regime extended its influence across the seas. After Great Song’s founding, Ning Wan names a Stillness Sea Protectorate in Shahuang’s former lands, overlooking Stone Pond, and Zhouwei confirms Zhusheng as its garrison commander. Zhouwei links the appointment to Zhusheng’s descent from Chu’s imperial line and the site’s strategic value. The southern ally now holds responsibility for a military protectorate overlooking the contested waters. (Chapters 1677, 1690)
Appearance and personality
Zhusheng first appears in white Daoist robes with a sword on his back, handsome and imposing. He is direct about his dislike of Prime Magnetism and cautious about entering the formation, but he still cooperates when the coalition needs him. (Chapters 1420–1421)
Abilities and cultivation
Zhusheng’s first confirmed cultivation stage is early-stage Purple Mansion, with two divine abilities. He follows the Jade True Dao and uses its sword tradition in battle; no later cultivation stage or named sword-mastery rank is confirmed. (Chapters 1372, 1386, 1428, 1529–1531)
Jade True Dao
Ximing later explains that transformation is part of Jade True’s nature and that the lineage had drawn closer to the Immortal Dao after its True Monarch’s attainment. This supplies context for Zhusheng’s Dao but does not establish that he personally masters every transformation art associated with it. (Chapters 1372, 1386)
Jade True swordsmanship
At Mount Tangdao he held the Jade True sword crosswise to stabilize violent purple-red light, while at Hongxue Gate his white jade spirit sword emerged from the great void to threaten Shilou Yingge. He fought alongside Chen Yin within Ning Wan’s formation as the allies struggled against Shilou’s True Fire and reached their limit. (Chapters 1428, 1529–1531)
Divine ability and concealment
When he met Ximing in the Southern Sea, Zhusheng said that his divine ability concealed the meeting from the Great Konghai Temple’s calculations. For the Mount Tangdao decoy, Li Ximing supplied a streak of heavenly light, Kuiqi gathered it, and Kuiqi and Zhusheng worked together on the transformation that animated a wax figure and concealed Ximing’s departure. The ability’s name, activation condition, and full limits remain unknown. (Chapters 1372, 1421)
